  3. Hey guys, my first post! I am achievemnets crazy! I have so far 1534 and counting. Hey Zincous, I remember emailing you after installing your game a while back, I just realised that you are the moderator here and that you have over 5000 achievements! My word, that is nuts! How you managed that I don't know, you did mention in your email that you are an acheivement junky! :)

Can I just say, I was wondering, are the friends capped to 500, the games to 199 and the each game can only have 100 achevments max? Does anyone know?

I noticed on GC it is now showing over 199 games on my GC account, I wonder if Apple are making changes to their database?

I have not seen a game that has more than 100 achievements, and I would just love to see a list of games that have game center achievements, and how many they have, I search for that lot! :)

Well I suppose I better get cracking with the achievements, try and get myself up that list! I do not know why Apple don't have a leaderboard for the amount of achievements everyone has, an online board showing every memeber and the amount of achievements/points that they have. I am starting to feel that the achievements mean nothing at all, without being able to compete and see how many others have, I am competitve and without this added edge there is no point to them.

Zincous, if you have any friend slots left please accept my friend request I am dying to see what games you have been playing! :) Oh do you have plans for another 100 achievements release? As I mentioned at one point, if a game hass acheivements, I'll buy it well if it has a lot like yours!

    Take it easy all!

    :)

    Haha awesome :)

Yeah friends are capped at 500 and each game can only have 100 achievements max. But the game limit seems to have been increased recently, and I haven't found what the max is yet, but it's more than 240...

And Apple doesn't have a leaderboard for who has the most achievements, that's why we made this thread to try and keep track of that as much as we can.

And yeah I accepted you, you are at 1,800 now, nice. And I have some other games in the making but idk how soon they will be released, I haven't been working on them in a while, been busy with the end of the semester. Maybe once summer comes along I'll get back into it. But yeah all games I release should have 100 achievements, that's the plan.

    I just hit 6,000:

  5. Hey zincous! 6000!!! I honestly don't know how you manage it all I know is my 16 gb iphone is nowhere near big enough! :) it takes dedication and a lot of commuting to get a lot of achievements! But I can't believe you have 6000! There was a brief second where I thought you as a developer could hack games and extract the achievements, I know that is not the case no offense to you, I'm just sharing a thought I briefly had!
I once bought a mac mini brand new to learn how to develop for the iphone as I am being taught C# for windows at university, but I was just too busy to keep up with coursework and learning objective C. It is an ambition of mine to develop for the iphone I wish it was possible in C#!

Anyway, I look forward to your future games, I wish you all the best with them! You will probably have 9000 achievements by the time you read this!
    ;)

Lol, yeah my phone wasn't big enough anymore either, I keep track of them in an excel file now to help me out.

And yeah as a developer I have no access to extra achievements or anything. When I started developing I already had 4 or 5 thousand GC achievements already.

Stick with learning how to develop an iPhone game, maybe over the summer you can get back into it.

    Thanks :p

    Holy crap.

How do you guys get so many achievements? I only have 130! I have about 10 Game Center games... that may be why.

Time to stock up on more games using game center.

I think EA and Gameloft should implement game center in their games.

Yeah, way more than 10 games. I think I have achievements in 400 games or so. I got so many of them for free though.

And yeah I agree, EA should. But Gameloft has already started using Game Center in games like Dungeon Hunter 2 and Star Battalion. I think DH2 had 67 achievements or something. But their most recent games don't have GC anymore.

why do the achievements have point values if there is no way to see your point total?

Probably an indicator for difficulty level of the achievement. The idea being the more point value it has, the harder it is to get. But your right, the points mean nothing right now.

It also could be a place holder for a future way of tracking scores that Apple may have implemented just in case they want to switch over to using that total rather than the total number of achievements.

Since OpenFeint and Xbox Live base your totals off your score and not the actual amount of achievements. Apple could always change it if they want I'm sure. Better than not putting it in, and then trying to backtrack (they'd never get developers to update all the GC games with point values if they didn't do it from the beginning). Maybe we'll see the point values used more in iOS 5.

Haha, yeah I need more games. The thing is, I just don't have that much time to play all these games. 10 is already a lot + games not using game center (around 15 more).

Every single game has so much content. That's what's so great about the app store. Inexpensive games with tons of content and even console quality. But even with around 25 games it takes so long to beat them.

Some games I have include Chaos Rings, GTA, Lego HP, NOVA 2, Real Racing, and a lot more. Each one of these games has a huge amount of content + multiplayer. It's so hard to finish all these games.

I hope that explained what I meant to explain.

i'm sure many people have said it, but these achievements are such a dubious way to calculate rank. but I guess apple's content with a system where buying games is half (or more than half) the battle.

it be great to see statistics like on Steam, where you see what percentage of people have obtained each achievement.

  13. Hey Jeff I have a couple of questions for you!
You say you keep all your GC data in an excel file, how are you doing this? Through something like iFile? Do you use a jail broken iphone? Can you recommend games which have a lot of achievements and are not too time consuming to obtain, for example like tap the button! ;)
Also, when do you plan on updating the list on this thread? I want my name In there! :)
How often do you play games on the iphone/iPad, I'm assuming you use both as some of your GC games are iPad only.
Your point on the achievements having points can be a future way for a leaderboard to show accumulative points, I think GC needs a major makeover.
The points mean zero at the moment, with the release of game centre apple seem to have started this project and put it aside as it need attention it is so slow and at times does not update for some time. Achievements are one thing but multiplayer aspects are nowhere near working as it should. GC in iOS 5 has to be improved. I don't care about all the other functions of iOS as mot of this is only useful to users with other apple products.
    :)

No I'm not jailbroken, I just enter info manually into a document on my computer as I get new achievements so I can delete the apps off my device and I'll still know where I got achievements even after they get pushed off my GC list. Since the list used to be much shorter than it is now. But even now, it only shows about half my games, so it's still helpful.

Haha, that's exactly why I created my game ;) Lots of achievements in a short amount of time. Berzerk ball, victory march, float, memory match, overkill, death rally are all recent games I've gotten a lot in pretty quickly.

Umm it'll get updated soon. Yeah I use both an iPhone and iPad to get achievements. I don't play on the iPad very much, I do it all mostly from my phone.

And yeah I really hope GC gets completely reworked in iOS 5.
