That's fine. But the problem here arises when you think THAT'S ONLY what they like. And when you constantly have someone beating that message like a drum, then the message becomes reinforced. This leads to a certain amount of condescension and in more extreme cases, derision.
Yes. I agree with that. I don't think it's that bad anymore. It used to be terribly shocking to find girls on a game forum. You know, I think it would be better if they break recommendations by age or genre.
Dang looks like its becoming a boy or girl Happy Meal choice! Come on people! Though I guess in fairness the boy vs girl game - again in this country - is ok up until a certain age. Then if a "girl" is still a gamer by the time she is a "woman" then all bets are off. Judging by those games I would guess - to bring them into this again - my 8 year old niece would like them but my 12 year old niece would be playing Eliminate with me and taunting me ever chance she gets.
LOL, I thought of this thread just now, when I bought two apps. One is called "SATC Tour" (a tour guide of locales which appeared on Sex and the City). The other is called "Beauty Minder", a beauty salon and personal grooming appointments reminder app. How genius is THAT. Okay, they're not games, but yes, there are some apps which are clearly tailored for women, and there ain't nuttin' wrong with that.
Got Hello Kitty Parachute Paradise and Kitty Chorus from promo codes. The first one is pretty good, the second one... isn't. This reminds me of when Lionel made a train set "for girls" which NOONE liked because it was silly! Now it's worth a small fortune because noone liked it way back then... Funny how things work out that way.
I've noticed The girls love Tap Tap Revenge games, I've noticed that since I got my iPod Touch, Tower Bloxx too, but for sure TTR, I've heard many times "Let me play Tap Tap!!".
To test the theory, I went and purchased a pink bra and a blue bra from Victoria's Secret for my girlfriend. We'll see which one she likes more. Honestly, they both look great on her. (My theory is... 1. subconsciously, over time, she'll end up wearing one color more often than the other: colors have some affect on gender; 2. she'll like them equally and wear them both about the same: colors have no affect on gender; 3. she hates them both and wears nothing: colors have no affect on gender, but I am happier)
I can't get my wife to play anything but word games, card games, or a select few puzzle games. They are fun but I wish she'd play something less intellectual- I don't know why I want this but I do. Her favorites: - scrabble - bookworm - solitare - collapse she says FPS, Action, RPG, racing, ect. Are to hard for her. And this is across all systems. Only games she has liked in the past were FF7, which she refuses any other FF; and anything with simple mini games such as Mario Party.
You know what, don't taunt him. He'd put them on and post pics to this forum. Believe me, you don't want to see that happen.
Why are you so defensive? I'm just saying there were plenty of women on the forums. I knew some of them from way back in the early 90's. I think some men just didn't have their eyes open perhaps lol or because it was back in the day, some women weren't as vocal. I was never shy about speaking up and saying my gender.
I wasn't being defensive. It was just question. Were you reading some kind of tone into the question that wasn't there? I didn't get what you were getting it. Why are you being so defensive?
Have no idea what you are talking about. You posted it used to be terribly shocking to find women on forums and I just said I was on a forum in the early 90's. To me, it was perfectly normal. For some guys yeah for some reason, I suppose it was out of the ordinary depending on the forum and the people. I've always known guys and girls who liked games and the guys weren't freaked out at all ab them playing because they were used to it. Again, have not a clue as to what tone you are referring to or anything else. I was just sharing my experiences.
Because what he said and what you said have no relation to each other. He said it was shocking to see a woman on the gaming forums years ago. Which is was. You countered with being on the gaming forums since 1993. You are ONE woman. Even if you and ten of your friends were on the gaming forums, it wouldn't reduce the shock of a woman being on a gaming forum. At least you could acknowledge that your appearance there wasn't the norm.
Yes it does, I'm saying it was necessarily shocking. To me and my friends it wasn't. I knew plenty of other women. Again, it's like just because you didn't see a woman on the forum doesn't mean there weren't women on the forums. From my experience, not shocking at all. I think there were a lot more women on the forums than you realize.
