Thinking about it, I just remembered a couple of freeware games I've played that would be really fun on the iPhone: Extinction - A zombie survival game set in a GTA 1 style engine. There's not much to it, but with online leaderboards/achievements, it could really work well for a low price. Survival Crisis Z - A zombie survival isometric shooter that's almost a zombie survival simulator. You have to interact with other survivors, go hunting for supplies, use the skills you have to survive, explore an infected city, and manage your ammo/supplies. It could work if it's done right. It almost reminds me a bit of the game Aftermath that just came out recently. Infinite War - If it recieves a decent graphical update, I think it could work. It's almost like GTA but in a war situation. You play as a soldier and try to take down the enemy in a GTA3-style gameplay, able to steal jeeps, tanks, etc. and pick up weapons, aiming down the sight in first person. For a freeware game made with gamemaker it's actually really fun, but if it came to the iPhone it'd need a decent upgrade or it'd never make it. I think that some of these games could work. We've seen other freeware games ported before and become a pretty big success, such as Enviro-Bear or Monster RPG 2.
I wonder if a simple port of team fortress 2 could fit on the iphone? nazi zombies fit on there well anyway
I think the orignal mercenaries game would be so fun. I had great memories with it. We could also use some good third person shooters like lost planet but with semi-dumbed-down graphics.
I'd like to see a really good Zelda-type game on the touch - I've heard good things about Across Age in that regard, but it still looks like it might focus more on the RPG side of things. I'll be getting it soon regardless An action-puzzle-adventure game like A Link to the Past though, would work excellent on this system. As for ported games - I'd love to see Cybermage: Dark Light Awakening, Strife, Blood, Blake Stone, SiN All excellent 3d-shooters that I think would translate well to the touch. Especially Strife - Doom Classic controls excellent, and Strife is built on the Doom engine and has a much better storyline & level structure.
It's quite funny that you got your wish come true! Now I just want: Commando: Behind Enemy Lines Might and Magic 4-7 Young Merlin (They could skip the mine level though, was a pain) Legacy from PPC (please Redshift make it happen!) Ultima IV And really I never played Runescape, but having a full fledged MMORPG in your pocket would be nice, I can't understand why they haven't made it yet. No I'm not a fan of Runescape, but I can't see a full fledged MMORPG like Guild Wars, WoW, KOTOR Online would be able to run on an Iphone/pad. And ofcourse I would love lots of Nintendo games but I'll skip that since Nintendo has stated so many times that they won't develop games for the apple devices.
Dead or Alive 2, with its counter-based, rock-paper-scissors gameplay and situational moves could work well on iPhone (see Bruce Lee games for how good it could look). Just simplify some of the throw-strings and somesuch. Hell, i would take DOA1, even (though DOA1's gameplay would be harder to port):
I just have to reiterate: Snatcher and Policenauts (an official translation for the latter). That's all I want, really. They would "fit" the platform so friggin' well I still don't understand why Kojima doesn't give it the go-ahead.
Please SEGA will you remake REZ!? I loved it, and the graphics were so simple it'd run really smooth on iPhone. I'd port it myself if it weren't for the copyright issues
Wow some of these mentioned are owned by other console makers. Anwways runescape would be cool. But a mmo dual stick shooter would be wicked.
