Shows ‘expected april 8th’ but the ‘get’ button is present if you look at the game Asp Well-Known Member Aug 3, 2017 769 196 43 #13 Asp, Apr 8, 2022 Not seen any previous iterations as I don’t do arcade racers, but this sure looks impressive. Captures the spirit and atmosphere of driving expensive machinery through magnificent countryside with lakes, mountains, quaint litle villages, and a workshop bullt into an imposing Italian villa complete with string quartet playing while adding upgrades. My favourite part of the game I think. Wish there was a simulation option so I could just drive slowly and watch the scenery go by, but no, this is pure arcade with max throttle and multiple assists. Driving on the brakes is all I can do. The tilt steering is very precise with little input needed. Also has left/right arrow and contoller options. The club car sharing is neat, allowing me borrow better upgraded cars from other members. I still finish last every race so I’ll likely be kicked out before long. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #14 squarezero, Apr 8, 2022 The original was a good arcade racer ruined IMO by an annoying timer-based IAP system. This is a more streamlined take on the same racing engine. I do wish there was a manual acceleration option, but otherwise I’m happy with this. Asp likes this. Missed that originally, and I don’t think it was mentioned in the tutorial. Makes driving way better for me. This is like a reskinned version with almost no content. You only ever have two cars to choose from to buy - every day those two options change, and that's it. But it's not even worth buying a new car after the first purchase because most of the regular events are only for the initial cars (a Porsche Boxter and an Alpha Romeo something that's not as good, so EVERYONE buys the Porsche lol). I bought a GT-R after playing for a couple hours and was only able to race it in two time trial events. Then, because racing an event causes the event to be replaced by a new one afterword, all six available events were only for the Boxter or cars with a lower performance rating than the GT-R. So wth is the point of buying new cars?? The only other events to race are the Stradale championship thing, but those are all with just one car - ie. you don't have a choice in what car you get to use for those. Then there are the upgrades - they unlock VERY SLOWLY. I got all the upgrades I could for my Boxter, but the next set isn't available until our club influence rating reaches 7 - it's currently at 1-3 depending on which upgrade type and increases only a few percent each race! The tracks are limited as well - basically only 2-3 full tracks that are sectioned out for different races to make it seem like there's more variety. So after playing for an hour or less, you'll have seen all the tracks there are. The game claims you unlock more tracks as you level up, but so far it just seems like you unlock different sections of the same 2-3 tracks (I'm at level 6, so maybe I haven't gotten far enough to see more?). The main reason I think this game was made was for live multiplayer, which the original game doesn't have (you race against other player's ghosts). But the couple races I did with other people were laggy. Also, I think you can ONLY ever race with the people in your club (and clubs are limited to just six members), so if none of them are online, then you're just racing against bots. For some reason I had thought when I first heard about this game that it was going to be about driving freely around a map of beautiful countryside with races here and there as options. It's not that at all unfortunately. Forget this game and just go play the original Gear Club. Btw, don't get me wrong - the actual driving, graphics, audio, etc of this game are great and seem very realistic, but you can get the same great production values with WAY more content from the original Gear Club.
