I'm sure we won't get to know all the specifics, but I'm really looking forward to finding out how profitable this is for the devs. It seems like a lot of these games could stand on their own for $2-$5+ in the ecosystem as it is.
FYI our company name is Tinybop not Tinybob. Our Arcade Game "Things That Go Bump" will be out in a few weeks.
Yeh I wonder how profitable it’ll be for the devs, I hope it is profitable for them as so far it seems really good. I do wonder how it will work if games ever come off arcade or if you stop paying? Do you keep the games you got already or aware they blocked or you have to purchase the game?
Didn’t know if this had been mentioned but with ios13 beta and ios13 itself you can now Bluetooth any PS4 and Xbox one controller to work with your Apple phone. I’ve tested and it works on all the Apple Arcade games that I have played except Cat Quest II and Dear Reader. I have both but prefer my PS4 controller which seems to connect easier and faster. I’m very impressed so far with the games they have available.
So IOS 13 is for Ipad tomorrow, and IOS 13.1 is on 30 september for IpadOS, so I can play on my Ipad tomorrow your saying, god let this be true he he.
Cardpocalypse, These just dropped Sonic Racing, Hyperbrawl Tournament, battlesky brigade, possessions, fledgling heroes
Does anyone know if 13 dropped today because I’ve gone into settings and it shows that I’m up to date on 12.4 but no 13 option and do I need a card on file to pay for Apple Arcade or can I just add the money?
I think it drops sometime around 10 or 11 CST here. Some randomness like that. Don’t quote me though.
Been looking up that, apparently its about 10am West Coast time so thats 6pm GMT or just before. Sure in past years its been about 5pm GMT (ish) I'm counting down the hours ! Cant wait for this and also Watch os5
One other thing... Maybe it’s stated somewhere but how does the whole Arcade pay structure work for the developers. I thought I saw somewhere that Apple gives the devs money up front? Do the devs get a cut of each sub thereafter? How is it profitable for all parties involved? I mean I understand that Apple is a juggernaut and I’m sure millions of subs means a lot of money but I’m curious if the “bigger” devs get a bigger cut than the small indie devs that are signing on? Just a few random questions from a gamer not a developer. I couldn’t attempt to code a mouse trap.
Some places have said that Apple spent loads getting these companies to make games so i'm sure they got a decent upfront payment for this big launch. Wonder what the metrics are, maybe it depends on how many times a game is downloaded or something I'm sure there'll be some users waiting for a price drop in the monthly fee as thats the type of people they are Seriously though this is a great idea, freemium really ruined mobile gaming for me and people moaning about a $2 wanting a price drop. Already people have mentioned this price. Its $5 for quality premium games, so many games out there if you hit gold on just a handful its paid for itself Only worrying thing is the copycats. That other company buying up older games (Such as Crescent Moon games) will apparently charge $10 a month, think thats too much. To be fair i have most of the games theyre buying up already Happy to pay for this and also Gamesclub when thats launched as then i can have those old classics back which i lost in the app-pocalypse
Its subscription based so you pay $5 a month, presume you can stop whenever you want First month free, then $5. I cant wait to start playing these games Reckon you can just stop the subscription when you want just like other games
