I had a few questions about publishers that I was hoping some of you had experience with: 1. For a big name publisher like Chillingo, what value would you expect to get? I assume they advertise, post your game on your site, etc... Do they offer other marketing services? To what extent are they involved with the development process, if at all? 2. Likewise with Chillingo, what cut of the game's profits would I expect to give to the publisher? Is it a flat-rate or "success based" percentage profit? (I understand the cut may differ on a lot of factors, but I'm looking for a ballpark number) 3. Are publishers picky on the games ("we only sponsor AAA titles to protect our name") or are they pretty much willing to offer their services for "smaller" games? Could a small, unknown developer get picked up by a large publisher? 4. Considering all the above, is going with a publisher preferable, in your experience? The main factor for me would be sales w/ publisher vs. sales w/o publisher, for paid games. Thanks
yes, they are they have a good marketing, and they can really increase sales for a good %. that's all.
This info is protected under NDA and you likely won't get any responses. You're best bet is to just communicate with Chillingo directly.
Whoops. That is very obvious, but for some reason I just didn't think of that. Sorry for my foolishness.
