My parent sometimes aren't always the most rememberful (is that a word?) types around. Basically, it's 4 days 'til Christmas, they haven't gotten the Christmas gifts yet, so I asked them to just give me the cash and I'd pick out what my little brother wanted myself. They forgot to pick up what I wanted when I was 9 until about a week before good 'ol Navidad, it was sold out, and they simply told me Santa got confused. I'm still pissed at them 'til this day. So, this is pretty much the set-up I'm gettin' for my 7 year old game-loving kin.

He pretty much loves Sonic and Mario to death. Wanted to run this through you guys in case you have any suggestions as to games or accessories, and get your seal of approval.

    Thanks, Bat :p

lol, there's no way he'd have the patience for a virtual pet. He's an energetic, all out, action and explosions type of kid :p

Mario Kart DS kicks some serious ass by the way. I put so many hours into that.

    Edit: what shiz said.

My nephew loves Drawn to Life. I, and many I know love Scribblenauts. With the DSi be sure to get him some points for the Nintendo store too because there are several games out that he might enjoy there too and it would not cost as much.

I want to add that I think its a great thing that you are doing.

    +2 Mario Kart DS

If he likes puzzles, be sure to get Brain Age (or 2, but 1st is better) and Professor Layton's game.

My niece and nephew both love Pokemon - if they're the right age any of the regular/RPG Pokemon games have LOTS of gameplay.

    N+ is a solid platformer/action game that isn't Mario ;)

Or, just get one of those Flash ROM cards and... I can't say here on the forums. ;) Homebrew apps! :D

Scribblenauts, Pokemon, N+, Mario Kart. Damn, this is gonna be a hard decision. His spelling skills are still kinda limited, so that rules out Scribblenauts. N+ seems like a tasty option. He loved it on my Mac.

Don't get a 7 year old GTA CTW. That is one of the most legitimate mature games. You run around dealing hard drugs.

Tamagotchi isn't a pet, its a bunch of mini-games, my cousin has it and it's a good time killer.

If he likes little creatures killing each other and many, many hours of gameplay get him Pokemon Platinum, basically a mix of Pearl and Diamond with added features.

Zelda Phantom Hourglass/ Spirit Tracks are quite good but can be frustarting at times ;).

Good choice with Super Mario. Bros/ Kart, great games.
