I downloaded and installed OS4 last week. The article talked about it being one of the Gold Master ipsw... However, when I went to iTunes today (latest version), pressing the update for the iPhone just told me that the OS 4 version that I had is the latest version.

I'm not worried about it, just curious that perhaps Apple did not do any last minute changes, and to see if other people with a Gold Master did not update.

  2. That's what "gold master" means: The final production, or "gold" version.

    Thanks Mindfield-

I know that the gold master is the final, but I guess I got the impression from around the web, that there were still a few tweaks, and that the gold master was not really the final gold master....

It works fine, and I have been loving the multitasking and folders - Although I already have a full page of folders, and I am running out of creative names... - I just was checking to see...

  4. I just created folders based on categories that made sense to me: Platform games, FPS games, puzzle games, ball rollers, artillery games, defense games, art apps, music apps, utilities, etc. I've got about two pages of folders that way.

Yeah - I am being a bit less creative - Puzzles 1, Puzzles 2, Dual Stick 1, Dual Stick 2 - etc... I think I will start putting some categories in there as well - I still have a bunch of "loose apps" running around - can't have that... :p

  6. I've tried breaking things down a little bit further. I have a a logic puzzles and a physics puzzles folder, for example, and I split action games from FPS games and shmups. Sometimes it's hard to make a distinction where something belongs, as it crosses genres, but I basically just pick a relevant folder at random. :)

Even if it has been tweaked since that GM was released I'm not sure iTunes would be able to tell the difference, it's probably got all the same tags n' flags of a valid update anyway so iTunes would just read them and see it as identical.

It's probably either the same or so similar that it'll never matter anyway.

It is actually the same - I found the ipsw files that are on the Apple servers, and it is the exact same file...
