I just downloaded blender the other day. I have learned some of the basic lighting, modeling, texturing etc..... I'm going to buy a book on blender. I need a book for someone brand new to 3d animation and that goes from the basics to more complex stuff.

    any suggestions?

    im using Blender for Dummies.

If you searched this, you woulda find my thread in which developer Flickitty said 'dont get used to a certain type of modeling program, get used to what each button does, how, and why so you can easily change programs.

Funny.... I am also a young teenager. Sadly, almost all of my money is in the form of itunes cards so i cant really buy paintshop, aftereffects, or premire. I am currently looking for alteritives that are FREE. So far all my textures ive used were made in paint or found on google.

I tried the app i think you were talking about, but it was a bit to simple. After 2 days of experminting in blender i have learned alot.

Never the less check this forum and your PMs everyday in case i have questions.

Hahaha don't get the assumption I'm rich! I only got cs4 because my friend's mom didn't need it because cs5 just came out. I model more than texturize later.

Will do! Can't wait! Who knows maybe we will learn the python code too ;)

Thanks!! I think i found a book online that is right for me and my mom said she ll buy it in exchange for the same amount in barnes noble gift cards( i have alot of those). i figure if i stick with blender and 3d animations by the time im 18 ill be able to make some amazing animation. im also
curious about python scripts. I think i have a vauge understanding on what it might do.

Question 1: i made this cool model of a table like thing and textured it with green soapstone and black marble. Is there a way
i can export this model AND KEEP the materials( textures, ray mirror....) so i can use it again in the future?

Does Python even have any real application with games? I've tried learning it, and while much more user friendly the Objective-C, what do you use it for?

I searched, there really isn't. I was in a phase where I really liked visual effects, but there's really nothing free and useful beyond editing videos. You could search for cheaper alternatives, but yeah...
