In quite possible the most awesome thing Google has done to its search engine, Google's celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pac Man with a Google-inspired Pac Man on its home page. It's playable. (Click the logo or the "insert coin" button beside search; use arrows to move) It's multiplayer co-op (click "insert coin" again and Ms. Pac Man will appear; use WASD to move.) It's playable on the iPhone/Touch and iPad. (Go to Google homepage, choose classic mode. Move with swipes; doesn't work very well though.) I love Google.
Yeah, but some of us use a search bar, and never visit the homepage... So, thanks for pointing it at.
Now I know why I keep hearing Pac Man noises out of my boss' office! Ended up playing a bit of Pac Man C.E. due to that...
This is probably the coolest thing they've ever done with their logo. I'm sure to be more than a little disappointed when they remove it.
It'll probably be archived in the Doodles like the rest of Google's past event logos. At least, I hope it will be; Namco might have an issue with it. Well, to be fair, it's a Javascript rendition and it runs like crap on the iPhone (even the 3GS).
This just goes to show you can't please everyone. Even though perfomance on the iPod/iPhone is not so good, let's just be grateful it even works at all. Thank you Google!
here's an easter egg: while playing it, press insert coin again to have MS. PACMAN added to the playing field, at the same time!!
