I was really looking forward for this, but unfortunately I don't like them at all. Apple may have much worse data, but the their app is more responsible and feels nice. When I run google maps I feel like letting android inside my iPhone Feels wrong.

I'm going to test out the turn-by-turn voice nav later today, which is something I don't have on my iPhone 4 with Apple's Maps app. I actually haven't had any significant problems with Apple's Maps - it seems to work well in my area. But no turn-by-turn voice nav. Tip: if you are searching for something in Apple's Maps app, you can get the routing/navigation done in Google Maps by choosing Transit as the route type. Apple's Maps doesn't have transit routing, so it lists apps you have that do navigation. You tap Google Maps in the list and it jumps to that app and does the route there. You can then set the route type, which seems to default to car, or maybe it's whatever was used last? lokiman Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2012 61 0 6 Vampire Principality of Zeon #6 lokiman, Dec 13, 2012 Nice to have them back I stopped using iOS6 maps after I found a good solution from our local map provider (Mapy.cz). I live in a big city and and I always liked public transport info in the original Google Maps but Apple's one doesn't have it (and many other things) so I was one of millions of users who didn't use iOS 6 maps at all. Now we got Google maps available again but I am not sure if I will eventually switch back ... their maps is OK but this thing I am using now is super cool in my city/country. The navigation is well designed, however the route it chose was unexpectedly a bit round about for no apparent reason. Still, it got me there and functionally the thing is great. Good design. However the one really odd omission, which I hope they fix: there does not appear to be anyway to look at your address book from within the app to select someone or someplace to navigate to. It does show your own home/work address(es), but no direct access to the address book. Why not? The only way to find anything is to search. Weird. Otherwise, yes this is good. The voice quality is good too. And I get turn-by-turn voice nav on my iPhone 4, which Apple chose not to provide with their Maps app for my gen iPhone. I will still keep TomTom because if you don't have a data connection you can't make a new route in Google Maps, nor can it reroute. However I did seem to see if that if you have no data connection it does store the current route for offline use. As long as you don't stray from the route it works. I didn't go far with data turned off, but it did work for the portion I tried that with. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
