Just played the first mission, picking up Misty from the clinic, and all is well on iPhone 4. Great frame rate, looks superb even without some lighting effects, and the radio stations are still awesome!
I saw a few posts in here somewhere about it not having blood in the other regions and some saying the game isn't in retina(?). Sure enough there's blood (in the US version at least?) and is in retina.
Graphics on the iPad 2 are much better than the screenshots I've seen above (more on par with the iPhone 4s one a couple of posts above this one). I've attached an example.
Whoa! I remember Flashback 95.6! Push it to the limit! She's on Fire!! In college, I would get together with some buddies of mine to play this, Vice City, and San Andreas every Friday night just to blow stuff up. In heaven right now.
On iPad 1 I'd say it looks graphically worse than Gangstar West Coast Hustle, but it's fine in a retro kinda way. BUT the framerate is really good which is much more important for playing the game...which of course is as fantastic as ever.
Game Impressions I guess I should post some impressions. I am on the second mission on my iPad 2, so far, I can only comment on graphics, performance, and the driving mechanics. Graphics are decent, about what I remember from having it on my Xbox, so no complaints there. I do get reflections on my car, so that must be a step up from A4 devices. I also get street lights, car lights, and fewer jaggies compared to the A4 screenshots. The game runs very smoothly, no lag so I would say game performance is good. Driving is much better than I expected after having played Gangstar: Rio. Not great, but definitely not bad. I can definitely maneuver around. Of course the real test for the controls will be once I get into a fire fight...
I have this game on the PS2, PC and PSP. But now, it's finally found it's way to my favorite handheld device and I just can't wait to get back into it again. This game among the great amount of other games I got so far will keep me well busy during the holidays Now i just want GTA: SA on the iOS, which according to rumors is a possibility!
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but if you want analog car controls, it's available on the control options men. Truthfully, dpad buttons work fine.
This the GTA 3 I remember and love. And the best thing about this release is that it's been a LONG ass time since I last played GTA3, so I've forgotten most of the story. But what I haven't forgotten are the AWESOME radio stations. I can't believe I'm playing GTA 3 on my PHONE, bumping some Game FM. You gotta be kiddin' me. Oh, and for only 5 bones.
Um no? This game originally wasn't even going to work on the iPhone 4. Just 4S and iPad 2. Step up your mobile gaming.
The game is decent on my iPad 1. Good framerate at least, but definitely running lower than native res. However it is prone to crash.
