I would not shed any amount of grief over what ngmoco is doing if it only remains exclusive to them, they're just an overrated iPhone games co for me but what I fear is the precedence it may cause. We may have already lost a good co in freeverse if they make their games freemium too
Well, you are right, I am afraid too if other developers use this method, but it makes them profit because people use it, they buy powercells, thats the reason why I suggested uneducation like #1, uneducated people can't see what is happening, they just want their power cells. But I can't educate all the world (lol?), but I am making my part, I won't support this freemium.
Zero. But I also don't play their games, either. I did download Eliminate when it first came out and played for maybe 2 minutes and then deleted it.
My same post from the other thread: NgMoco is basically a new company. About as old as the AppStore itself. And in my opinion only have a few really GOOD games. So inorder for them to develop the capital to buy Freeverse and have 50 million of expendable income must mean either A) They have rich friends, or B) they are making a shit load of money raping gamers with this freemium business model. I just cant sit back and watch gamers basically be taken advantage of and not get angry over it. I loved Eliminate and had to stop playing it because i wanted to play it a lot and it was costing me a forune. More than a console game and it got ridiculous. We Rule looks awesome but i wont get it cause i will want to jump in full steam and i dont wanna spend that much on a game. Id pay 20 even 30 bucks for a good game. As long as i myself once i purchase it can decide the amount of time i get to invest in it. waiting for crops to grow in real time is just not fun to me. And from what i understand i would have to pay to speed up this process. I just dont want this to become the norm on the appstore and if Ngmoco becomes more and more successful it can and prob will and that will be a bummer for me and many other iphone gamers. I made an example that this wouldnt work with Call of Duty so why implement this model on the app store. Now Freeverse too. Whats next?
Spent about 2 bucks on Eliminate. Wanted to support ngmoco + I was addicted at the time, so I really needed credits. Haha. I wish ngmoco would stop using this stupid fremnium crap and develop Rolando 3. I'm disappointed they didn't. They would've gotten a hell lotta money of of it.
And of course the moderators will find a way to twist this so that it doesn't say anything bad about freemium.
Nope haven't spent anything on any game they made. I like Eliminate but just wait and play on it when i feel like it. Haven't got the urge to flush my money down the loo just for the sake of waiting for a few hours. Eliminate is a good game but its not that good!
i've spend 1,99$ for eliminate just to support ngmoco because i believe that the game was good and well deserved that price...apart from this i played eliminate for weeks and other but i never feel the urgency to buy those energy cells also because ngmoco more than one time wanted to support even the gamer that don't spent a buck on it with promotions like that recharge of an energy cell every two minutes for some days or the "download this to get ..... energy cells"
Yes, i have spent about 4 dollars on eliminate, this was when it first came out and i was super addicted to it. however i quickly realised that they have "special offers" just about every week. so far i have saved up 375 power cells purely off the free giveaways . so if i became super addicted to it again, i will be able to play for a looong time!!
How does this poll say something bad about freemium? http://techcrunch.com/2010/02/22/ngmoco-25-million-series-c-buys-freeverse/
I'm glad to see the majority have got their heads screwed on! I would feel forced into playing it if I had to pay for extra stuff and use it all or whatever.
The poll is showing that despite the vocal minority of people on TouchArcade who absolutely hate freemium, more people around here are actually participating in their new payment structure than ngmoco's overall average free to paid customer conversion rates.
