The game is made to be played with an internet connection, that is the way the game is made, that is the only way the game will work. If you don't have access to an internet connection, why do you want to play this game so badly?
put me in time out and send a message to others about this forums integrity. What part of the forum rules did I break?
You broke the "Do not insult ngmoco because they give us money" rule. Seriously, what is it with you mods? As soon as someone expresses some hate towards ngmoco, all hell breaks loose.
My point is if other 'good devs' makes their next great game to adapt this model then people without a constant access to the net will be screwed. I play my games on the commute so I would know. Also to quote jinofox 'i am surprise that other devs don't adapt this model yet' means that it's very probable that other devs might follow.
The moderators don't need to work here cuz no One is breaking any rules. A lot of of other thread needed more work. 2. Use common sense. I am using more than that my friend.
True. Since the release of NOVA, Eliminate has dropped in the charts and doesn't appear in any top 100 charts at all now (at least in my App Store). I have to admit, I am quite looking forward to God Finger. If you have to spend any money to play the game properly, then I will delete it. If it requires constant internet access then I will probably delete it. But I still have a right to discuss it and act against it in these threads, so you mods need to calm down.
Da shiz I have read a lot of intelligent and valid post from LBG. The issue here is freemium not the personality of the poster.
This is the idea behind ngmoco's freemium idea. So the poll is at 15% paid for it well they really only need 5% of the people to pay then they get a really nice cashflow. Say 5% pay around $15 a month each, that is $750 if they get 1,000 people to buy the app but since its free they get much more people to use the app than that and some pay more and some less but all in all it is $750 for only 1,000 users imagine how much it is for the huge number of people that have bought apps like eliminate and we play once it goes global.
By valid you mean posts that agree with you. I haven't seen him acknowledge both sies of the argument yet.
Ok, well I just clear some things up. - I am not against DLC/in-app purchases. I am just against the way that ngmoco is using it to steal money. IMO, the best way to utilise in app purchases is to either have a free "lite" version where you get a few levels/content and pay to unlock specific content or the full game. - There have only been two ngmoco games that I have enjoyed - Rolando and Rolando 2, the rest I hate. However, I am looking forward to God Finger. - I like most Gameloft games, not all. I hate their sports games, they suck at making sports games and their controls can be bad. Also the graphics are always a bit "gamelofty". Call me a gamelot fanboy/ngmoco hater if you wish, but that is what I am. We all have opinions and preferences, so please accept mine.
What about admins and mods getting money from ngmoco and how they love ngmoco? Could you please explain how they are stealing money? Last I checked no one is forcing me to buy their DLC.
I think SG's point and what everyone is so upset about is the very simple fact that this can and might become the norm on the app store. And if it does, it would suck. If u want to play a "marathon", u simply wont be able to just"play something else" cause most will be using this model and will cost gamers a fortune. If only Ngmoco does this then fine. Those of us that dont like it can avoid it. But because they are making so much money with this it is highly likely that other developers will follow suit or NgMoco will become the Giant Conglomerate of the APP Store and keep buying companies ala Freeverse and turm them to this model. Then what? Sure it wont happen overnight but it could. That is why someof us are so upset over this and feel the need to speak out.
We had a sort of blow out over this last night and i dont want to see that happen tonight so lets all cool it and get along. I think everyone would agree the future of the Appstore and iphone gaming as a whole and its success is everyones biggest interest.
But that would never happen because the app store is open to everyone to develop and not all devs are just in it for the money and many of them dislike the freemium system. Plus if it becomes the norm sone dev will go against it getting rich and his model will be followed.
