holy crap. I thought I'd get, like, 5 replies.. THIS is why I love these forums So I think I've got a few options that are going to help. Lego Harry is a bit too "involved", but I might just pick it up just because second time - Dude, wow. Wow. Thanks. So many good options there. I need to look through some, I'm hoping that I might be able to narrow it down a bit more, see if I can get some other ideas. She's going to try out Sim City, I completely forgot I bought that (thank you SALES). She LOVED Heroes of Might and Magic and was the main reason I got her a laptop, but although there is a clone of it on the app store, it wasn't really that good. So, anyway, narrowing it down a bit more, as I am going to try weeding through those that are there... Like: - Sim City - Jigsaw puzzle games - Match 3 games - Lexulous (scrabble/Words with Friends, doesn't need anything more) - Yahtzee/Monopoly/Uno Not a fan of.. - Sudoku or other "thinking" games. She has a high stress job and needs to "zone out" with stuff - Angry birds - The Sims (I know, makes me sad..) - active running/etc type games (adoriellen you and I are soul mates with what we're looking for ) I think I might try Puzzle Quest and I'll look through for another few puzzle games that I, myself, dismissed previously. It's just such a focus on casual, mindless just FUN games. Ones that don't require immediate focus.. Games like Yahtzee and Peggle, Bejeweled and such are just so good for casual play. Anyway, thanks very much in advance for all your help. And hopefully this is helping OTHER people, too *** Oh, I picked up Collosion effect... Don't know if she'll like it, but it is pretty damn cool!
One that wasn't mentioned but is all the things you wanted is disc drivin'. Its multiplayer (play together or online) and turn based so check that out.
I feel like were deciding christmas presents here...anyways, like phattesfatty said Disc Drivin' seems to fit the bill, Tower Bloxx seems good too (i haven't tried the app but i've played the online version) and I think Hot Springs Story might be fun for her too. I believe all of those work on iPad.
I'm a woman, so I have to repeat myself: [app]Smiles HD[/app]. It's cute, great sound effects, very casual, not timed, two games in one app with multiple modes. Newest fave is [app]Cow Trouble[/app].
Then how about Highborn? It is a light turn-based tactics game with nice visuals and a lot of humor. It plays very well while watching TV. The games you mentioned aren't really "mindless" anyway, just not time-sensitive and forgiving of interruptions - as this one is. Personally, I also love Puzzle Quest 1 and have played it to death. It adds enough twists to the "match 3" formula to be really interesting (this from somebody who was rather bored by Bejeweled). Surprisingly for me, I have been enjoying "Save Toshi" a lot. They say that it is somewhat like "Bloom Blox", whatever that is. You shoot balls at structures consisting of blocks of different materials in order to get a toon into a goal. Also certified TV compatible .
How about playing Real Racing 2? You will get the most exhilarating handheld racing experience and feel the thrill of authentic pack racing action with 30 cars. You can play for over 10 hours and don't wanna get down. The gameplay is just so brilliant that it's really really worth a play. Don't miss it ever.
I'm going to ignore the banned guy above me... So here's what we've found, Cacassonne is a HUGE hit. We play it all the time now. I finally get the rules and she's starting to pick up on the game and will be kicking my butt very soon Outside of that, she's not really taken on anything else... Sigh. Highborn is a no go, as my wife enjoyed the "exploration" aspect of Heroes of M&M more than the fighting, that was actually her least enjoyable part of the game I think Puzzle Quest and Saqq...that game are going to be good. I have a few jigsaw puzzle games and she's okay with that. Collosion Effect was a bust, as was Puckerz (which I was surprised about), Save Toshi not so much (my kids and I really enjoy it, they just can't do it but adore Toshi), Cut the Rope also wasn't up to speed for her. I think the reason Bejeweled and Peggle work so well is that in so many ways they are VERY simple and almost "mindless". That's the issue with games like Angry Birds and Cut the Rope. The early levels are easy and don't require a lot of thinking, but they get a bit complicated and that's going outside of the fun factor she's looking for. ANYWAY - So, at this point Carcassonne is a major hit, and that alone is pretty freaking fantastic, and I need to test out the waters with Blockus and Shadow Era, but if there's anything else that y'all can think of. I just wish there were a few more Peggle clones of that style of passive action. Shows why everyone pays PopCap so much damn money!
Words With Friends Doodle Jump Tiny Wings Fieldrunners Lego Harry Potter Bloons Tower Defense Osmos Spider Skee-Ball Pictureka Moron Test Just some of the many on my ipod that I play at least once a day...
Females usually seem to like arts and crafts apps, so I'd recommend Let's Create Pottery HD, also maybe 'find the difference' games or art/drawing/painting/light effects type creative apps, which there a slew of, What about musical instrument apps? Some are done extremely well. Doodle jump, LaDaDa, (which is a singing app that actually makes you sound like a star, definitely recommended), and also optical illusion apps she might find interesting, to name a few. Hope this helps!
I don't know if it's been mentioned, but the Pathpix series is a great choice for casual gamers. One of my favourite iOS games of all time and everyone I recommend it to seems to take a shine to it It can look overwhelming at first, but it eases you in really gently and eventually you can do it with barely any thought whatsoever. I used to play it in bed on a work night just to help me relax PathPix PathPix Pro PathPix Zen Lite version: PathPix Lite
