Really having a blast playing as a Human Gunner. I have spec'd outside the mage tree now that i completed all waves except 32 and 33, and so far i've only been adding points into Knight's universal +damage skill. Im going to spec in a lot of Paladin points to get God Rays. With Paladin's God Rays and Mage's Magi-Blood, together with 12% crit and 20% Vampirism on the rune each repeater shot should be a lot of fun With Magi-Blood alone i can kill Wraiths and ghouls coz of the AOE magic damage proc. Of course Ice Shards is there as backup plan which costs mana.
Hmm... found a cool interaction. +ranged damage bonuses are applied on the Magi-Blood bonus damage. It's not game breaking, but it's a pretty strong interaction. Maybe it will be applied to God Rays' chain lightning damage as well, would be pretty cool too.
It varies. The best weapon for swords striking is a 2 hand sword: 152 dmg, 23 sta, -13 aspd (irrelevant) Best in terms of raw DPS is probably a scythe: 69 damage, 15 ap, 38% crit, 20 sta Best low stamina 2 hander are double swords: 99 dmg 10% crit 8 sta (10% seems EXTREMELY RARE, it was a legendary I had pre-patch that got changed to these stats. I haven't seen one like it since) 2 hand axes are inferior. Spears seem inferior too. I don't have much experience with hammers, so I'll get back to you. Hammers seem cool though. Picks also seem weak. But the best 2 hand hammer I found: 69 dmg, 10% crit, 12 sta, 20% chance to stun for 6s, heavy knockback (probably not that good) Best one handed DPS is an axe*: 11 dmg, 40% crit, 8 sta, and 8% aspd (the 8% mod is EXREMELY RARE and what puts it over the top. I've only ever seen one of these). A close second for one hander dps is a dagger*: 9 dmg, 38% crit, 5 STA, 10% aspd Maces seem inferior: 9dmg, 38% crit, 12 sta, -13% aspd 1 hand hammer: 9 dmg, 25% crit, 8 sta, 15% chance to stun for 6s One hand swords are inferior to these in terms of stats: 14 dmg, 38% crit, 8 sta, -13% aspd Best magic bow: 132 dmg, 15 ap, 8 sta, -13 aspd, 8 sta Best physical bow: 99 dmg, 15 ap, 10% crit, 5 sta Crossbows are inferior. Having 90 AP is overkill. The best repeater I've found is only an epic: 8 dmg, 30% crit, 2 sta Best ranged staffs: 2 dmg, 38% crit, 5sta. Best melee staffs: 28 dmg, 25% crit, 5 sta *Remember one handed weapons attack at 1.25x the rate of two handers. Feel free to correct me on any of these if you find anything better. I've rolled a LOT of daggers, scythes, axes, staffs, and swords. I'm can say with 99% certainty it doesn't get much better than what I listed. Hammers, maces, staves though I haven't really looked into. Even though I also rolled a lot of guns, the fact that the highest crit one was an epic at least makes me want to believe there's a 38%-er out there somewhere. The way I value each stat is basically how the perks work. 12% crit = 30 AP = 25 damage. For example: An 8 dmg 50 AP repeater is worse on an account of 30% crit being 2.5x legendary runes, and 50 AP is only 1.7x. And I still use 1 scythe. It's difficult to dual wield them due to the stamina requirement and dwarf's ass stamina regen. Humans/elves can handle them much easier, but they don't have the dual wield skill. Part of what makes scythes so good is insanely high crit mods with high damage. The 35% penalty kills it. You're better off with 1 hand weapons on elves/humans if you want to dual wield, due to the 1.25x faster attack. Daggers look way cooler on elves, although the aforementioned 1 hand axe is "technically" a better item. But I've only got one. And I'm OCD like that.
After a few hits you stop attacking to regen stamina, which dampens your total DPS. That also does not include the amount of stamina you lost closing the gap to your target. It may be the highest average damage per hit, but not damage per second.
His is still better. 99 dmg with 10% crit can do an average of 1188 damage in 10 attacks on paper, while yours will only do 1030.
You don't have much issue even dual wielding with elves actually. You can test if you don't believe me. Dwarves have a slight problem, you'll need a ~5 stamina second weapon. He can sustain about ~25 stamina total between two weapons comfortably. So the idea is you kill everything in like 1-2 hits anyway. You shouldn't have to sit there swinging away. Even trolls and stuff die real quick. Moreover, one trick is after your 4-5 hit combo finishes, stop attacking. Hitting the attack button keeps your stamina from regening, and you can't attack anyway until the cooldown for your attacks finished. This lets you regen about 40% of your stamina, more for humans with the sta regen perk. And it is still absolutely highest damage per second. You should have no problems swinging a second. Perhaps not highest damage per hundred seconds
Killing them in 1-3 hits is definitely what makes it good, but math-wise it's not the best in terms of DPS. There is a difference between average damage per hit and average DPS especially when you have to stop attacking in between burst combos. If your sample size is only a 5-second window, then your math is severely flawed.
Can I ask why? What can't you kill in 2-3 hits exactly? You regen while switching to another target so...
I knew of the math already, but I only said better in the damage stat. I didn't say anywhere in that post that said my bow was better in every regard. DPS wise, yes, 2's bow does outbeat mine by 158 damage in 10 attacks.
Me correcting you has nothing to do with what you can or cannot kill in a few hits. I was pointing out that your usage of the term DPS is misplaced. Either that or your math is flawed.
Scarwood Keep?? How do I unlock Scarwood Keep? I have conquered every land on the map and I still cannot attack the keep! Do I have to win all the defense waves first? I am on wave 32 and literally cannot for the life of me pass it with my paladin.
Yeah you need to complete the waves to unlock the next few missions that will lead to unlocking Scarwood Keep.
I'm misusing the term "damage per second"? I don't think so sir. This is a quantifiable unit. We can put some hard limit on stamina to rule out the 60 STA weapons that you occassionally roll, but 20 sta is nowhere near impossible. And in real world scenarios, you spend enough time walking/repositioning to allow for at least one scythe use on dwarves. The 15 AP is also not to be overlooked, with a 30 AP rune gives you a decent chance at first time hitting most things. And we all know what runic curse does after that. Also there's the point of scythe reach being longer.
It is actually quite a bit more than that if you're an elf. You get 10 damage to bows, 30 damage to stunned targets, .5 damage per point of armor, and +150% crit damage. This is all more beneficial to a crit bow than a non-crit bow. If we assume base damage of 64 (which is what I believe it is at lvl 99), then base damage for crit bow on stunned 0 armor target: (64+99+10+30)*(.1*4.5+.9)=274 per hit With non-crit bow: 64+103+10+30=207 per hit A difference of 67 damage per hit. Against higher armor enemies, the crit bow gets even better. Vs 50 armor stunned targets (crit bow): (64+99+10+30+25)*(.1*4.5+.9)=307.8 per hit Non-crit bow: 64+103+10+30+25=232 Now it's 75.8 damage difference. Over 10 attacks is 758 difference. Using crit mods will help the non-crit bow, but it'll never making up the difference. Elves benefit a LOT from crits.
A lot of ppl say 32 is the hardest, however, 32 is easier than 35 imo. Quickly max out your wall unit with snipers and a dwarf captain. when orcs hitting your wall, summon a bunch of elf warriors and give them holy shield. elf warriors will kill orcs if they have immunity. If you have vengeance aura, that and holy shield together will wipe out all the orcs in secs.
Especially since they're the only race that adds on additional Crit damage. I know damage isn't the end-all be-all thing, it's always a mix it that and crits, and possibly Armor Pierce if you can fit that in somewhere.
