Am I missing something? I don't see avatars under user names and I can't add one either are they disabled totally for some reason?
My sarcasm was completely lost it seems =( Maybe if arn was aware of the horrible things Hodapp has done to me he'd know I was joking
I don't really care. If u think about it what does it add to your forum experience? Nothing. Same threads, same people. Avatars are not important IMO
Yes, avatars are disabled because people don't want this forum to turn into another iPod Touch Fans. That forum is a perfect example of avatars gone wrong...
my favorite system I heard about in a forum was the ability to pay $10 to change your own or someone else's user title. arn
Exactly. I really don't see much point in them, it looks more professional without them so leave it as is. Avatars also slow things down when you're on your Ipod Touch or iPhone so this way it doesn't take as long to load a page which makes it Ipod Touch and iPhone friendly. I'm sure a $100,000 donation would help your cause though
Not cool arn. I was charging 20 bucks for every name change and only paid 10 to Eli while pocketing the rest. Now everyone knows what it actually costs to get your name changed here
Personally I think it looks more professional with professional-looking avatars. The problem is all those pesky kids foiling my evil scheme yet again.
I've noticed that I remember mostly everybody here by their "names" and in other forums I tend to rely too much on peoples avatars to remind me of who they are. I depend on them so much that when they change their avatar I forget sometimes who they were before.
Yes that is the problem, maybe only allowing developers to have avatars would be a good solution because it would allow them to distinguish themselves from others so you know when you're reading a post by a developer.
I like that idea actually. Even if they don't get to choose their own avatar, just giving them their own icon would be a great help. Perhaps they could implement it into the private developer forum requests to save time... when a dev requests entry, whoever grants permission also assigns the dev icon.
Yeah I think it would work good, that way when you saw the companies logo as the avatar you would know without reading anything else that the Dev worked for or owned that company, sometimes Dev's post in other games threads and for people who don't read carefully they can become easily confused, but this would help to solve that because if I.E. it were a Gameloft game and an EA Dev posted in that thread we would know that the EA Dev wasn't a Dev for that game. Obviously we aren't going to see that exact scenario, but it could happen with two Indie Devs. It would also be cool for Dev's just because they would get to show their logo and I think it would be well accepted on the forum.
