I for one will probably be going even though I hate verizon and they can suck my d*ck. I'll wait for the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4gs first but I will be moving for the LTE (hopefully) and the unlimited data usage. So hbu guys?

If you think Verizon will do anything outside of squeezing you for every penny possible, you're sorely mistaken.

So your saying at&t is still the better choice. I really do hate verizon but what about the unlimited data and LTE?

I had Verizon for 10 years. It seemed like every month my bill was fluxuating, all kinds of hidden fees and BS excuses to charge more even when I wasn't going over my minutes. Everytime you wish to make minor changes to your phone service, they use it as an excuse to tie you in for another 2 year locked contract extension. Finally I had enough and switched. I even got so fed up I paid off extra $ to terminate the final contract early so I wouldn't have to deal with them another minute. They still tried to bill me after!..with a fake bill, phony charges just to see if they could make an extra buck hoping for a fool to just pay without thinking. They have poor customer service also, when you call them up to correct their mistakes and ask why you get a false charge or charged twice for something(sometimes even billed twice in the same month) all you get is an "oh we're sorry sir, we can fix that" as if they don't know what was going on.

I wouldn't recommend Verizon to anybody and I've talked to several others who feel the same way.

I've avoided Verizon because historically their definition of "unlimited" loosely translates to "use as much as you want until we feel like turning your shit off." Because of that, I don't think their unlimited LTE plan (if such a thing does exist once phones are out that people actually want to use) will be the holy grail of wireless connectivity that it seems like a lot of people are expecting.

Isn't Verizon's "unlimited" data actually 5gb/month? It was last time I checked.

I'm out in the country where mobile broadband is the only high speed option for me, and 5gb doesn't cut it for a whole family for the month. We had to go with Sprint, which was the only unlimited plan that I could find that actually is unlimited. Maybe if you're only using it for your phone it's not as much of an issue though (?).

I'm actually a Verizon customer, and honestly, they've been great for me. They're the only provider that works consistently here in San Francisco with very few dropped calls, and customer service when I've needed them has always been responsive.

So you know, I have a work phone with AT&T and more often than not, I can't hold call without it dropping.

As far as 4G is concerned, I wouldn't advise going that route with any carrier unless you really need it for work purposes. Most of us don't need it, and it will be a few years before 4G coverage is consistent and widespread enough for it to be useful even for those who need it. It's more marketing than anything right now, and the pricing model doesn't justify it.

I was with Verizon before I switched to AT&T, and I had the opposite experience - random charges here and there for god knows what, and the customer service is in my opinion pretty bad. Although the fact that I switched at a time when AT&T only had unlimited iPhone data plans might be part of the reason why I like my service. That and rollover minutes.

Although if I wanted to save $5 dollars a month and drop to the 2gb dataplan I doubt it would hurt me that much. I use my iPhone for constant 3g websurfing, youtube, and netflix viewing and I go between 1gb-2gb of data usage every month. Also the two years I've had AT&T, I haven't encountered one rude customer service agent.

I'm surprised to hear there's a cellular carrier that works at all in San Francisco.

It has to be where you are - for us Verizon works the best.

My phone works when my husband's work phone (Blackberry), brother's or father's (iPhones) AT&T phones are searching for signals. My husband still curses his company for switching over because they wanted some exclusive model of the Blackberry.

As for the LTE or 4G I worry that there aren't enough towers and that would cripple the phone until more towers are built. They say it is backwards compatible but in getting so locked into a phone I would not trust it just yet.

I really have no preference one way or the other. AT&T and Verizon are about even here in the Albany, NY area.

My wife, however, will jump to Verizon as soon as it's released. The school she works at is on the very edge of solid AT&T coverage, meaning she usually has no service -- voice or data -- while at work. Verizon coverage isn't much better, but at least you can get a few bars, which makes all the difference.

So, I guess you could put my household in the "will buy" category, though it's more of a "no other choice" decision than a "We love Verizon" decision.

I just want people to move from AT&T to Verizon because that means that less bandwidth for AT&T.

It seems like everybody in The Bay Area has an iPhone, so hopefully I will experience less dropped calls once Verizon comes out with it.

Well I guess I still have a while to decide. I'm really just waiting for the new iPhone then I'll make a decision. I really don't like verizon but it seems a better choice. I actually do like at&t even though they are iffy, they really aren't that bad as they are put out to be.

Well, you know how SF can be kind of a tech backwards town  Don't even get me started on all the crazy ordinances here.

I'm in the same boat. I've got both a Virgin Mobile MiFi (which uses Sprint's 3G network) and a Sprint 4G Overdrive (which uses their 4G network) and my iPhone consistently has not only a more stable data connection but also substantially faster.

The one exception is San Francisco. That place is the worst. You'd think Steve would actually unveil the yearly iPhone refresh in a city that actually has a functional AT&T network.

Yeah I know. I love when they are at the press conferences and the iPhone he is showing off has like two bars max. That's the best, it's not the phone but the area. People don't care though, it's an iPhone.

That's part of the problem though. There are tons of people with iPhones here who can't do the most basic things because of the poor coverage. Seriously, if you can't make a call with a phone or even access the Web, it kind of defeats the purpose.

I highly doubt that we will see an unlimited data plan for Verizon's 4G network. I'm about 99% sure that they have said that they will be going to tiered data plans similar to AT&T's in the near future.

I also don't think that we will see a 4G iPhone anytime soon. We are in far earlier stages of 4G networks than we were in 3G when the original iPhone came out and it didn't support 3G. I would be pretty surprised if Apple pushed out a 4G phone this summer considering how young 4G networks are.

And as much as people love to b*tch about AT&T and how terrible they are, I've been with them for the last 8 years and haven't had a problem. If people thought AT&T had a rough time handling the strain of the iPhone then it will be interesting to see what kind of criticism Verizon takes when they have an influx of people joining for the iPhone as well. AT&T has been dealing with this for the last 3+ years and Verizon has not.

4G coverage is horrible. As someone who has a 4G device and travels a ton, I've literally found nowhere short of the Delta terminal in O'Hare airport where the Sprint 4G network works well. I expect similar things out of Verizon's LTE for the next few years.
