If you search through these developer forums, you will find many of these types of threads from devs asking why their "quality" game was not featured by touchArcade. The TA writers have made it quite clear over and over again in these threads that they read EVERY SINGLE EMAIL received through the SUBMIT link at the top of the page. Regarding the number of developers, http://148apps.biz/app-store-metrics/ says there are 85,416 active app developers. So yes, you really are competing with many other devs who are putting in very high effort and a lot of funds to succeed. That's probably not the answer you wanted to read either, but those are the facts.
85,416 active that's a high number but all those dev does not submit an application every day, specially a game. I don't know exactly how many review request TA received per day. Trust me, we spend lot of effort on this game and actually we are working on a version 1.1 of Gaston 2 with new designs, new levels (50 actually), new elements. We polish our game and we are trying to do our best.
I make a concerted effort to go through email every couple days, and every time I do it seems like I have a few thousand emails to read through.
So, is it even worth writting to [email protected] then? Doesn't look like it, as you will probably not even read more than the title of 95% of them (not blaming you, just stating the obvious). So, here is a question for you Hodapp: while contacting a website like you, what are the most important information we need to expose at the beginning so we get a chance to get notice (and you guys actually read through the message). While you are at it, what are all the important information you'll need? Promo Code, video link, screenshot, Press pack...? This will benefit everybody: you: you'll get every info you expect from the submission us: we might have a better chance to get notice. thanks JC
I read every email. It doesn't much matter what you include as long as it's enough information about your game to pique our interest. Promo codes aren't really needed unless they're pre-release promo codes.
I'm still waiting for a response to my email about BOT. Touch Arcade could have an exclusive preview... http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=86586 Since I never received a reply from Touch Arcade on ANY of my emails, it's hard to tell if you're not interested or if something's blocking my emails. I'm surprised that a 10 page thread on this site isn't worthy of a response.
It's really, really difficult to get excited for anything made with GameSalad. Seeing the GameSalad splash screen invokes the same feeling of repulsion that the Unity splash screen used to back before both Unity significantly improved their engines and developers figured out how to use it. You guys that have been around since the beginning know what I'm talking about. Those early Unity games were terrible. I didn't even know you could build a good game in Unity until Ravensword.
ok and what about "8-bit vs 16-bit"? We got nice article on website like Tuaw or 148apps. Reviewer like the original concept. yesterday we got a other nice review on Square-Go http://www.square-go.com/ Maybe it's the kind of game that you like or you don't but how can you explain that they are any news (not reviews) about it on your website? I'm just asking
No offense to you or anything, but I personally don't consider a 3.5/5 rating a favorable review. Toucharcade has tons of apps looking for its attention, so really, the only apps they will review are those that seem interesting. Some apps, like LASW, didn't come to the attention of TA at first, but since it became pretty popular on the forums, TA eventually reviewed the game. Also, one thing you can try is to ask on your thread for the people who have bought the game to review it in the review section. I'm not sure if it'll help, but I think it does. Also, most games that TA notices by any method (large threads, people's recommendations, ads, etc.) other than the email will probably warrant at least a quick play-through. Finally, although having ads advertising your game on the website will not improve their rating of your game, it will make the game come to the people at TA's attention. TL: DR If you want your game reviewed, it has to stand out.
Thanks for your messages steelfires. 8-Bit vs 16-Bit is the kind of game that people like or you don't like. (There is a war between 5 stars and 1 stars on the iTunes). It's very a simple game without any pretention. We just found the idea of switching the button original and cool. We're working on update to add more games and add the support of the iCade. For us a Rating of 4/5 even 3.5 is really great, we didn't expect that kind of rating and we understand that people may don't like the simple aspect of the game. Our other game Monkey Land, released this August 17 also received nice review, it's a Free-to-Play with lot of gameplay and polished graphics. Actually the download isn't really good as we expected, I think we still something missing in marketing. We're working actually on a new game since months and we will go through an publisher. We must admit that we're not good on the marketing process.
Artstyle for the monkeys in your game is creepy as #### dude. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel (1:25)
for monkey land, what most reviewers said about it was that it had bad implementation of DLC. That's the main thing.
Why don´t you better say : why wouldn´t somebody pay attention to me? if your game´s good you´ll be there
Maybe there are some bad implementation but that's definitively not the main thing. DLC from all games, not just for Monkey Land, MUST be used as an option. if it's an option, It can be the main thing. All the game was design to be player without the uses of the DLC.
Hmm, not sure about Arta but it makes me uncomfortable to look at them, much less poke them. They look like hairy naked little people...
