Spice Miner is a good choice... sure, the graphic whores (IB, Aralon...) won't agree :D

To me there is no game of the year there were a lot of good games this year and anyone of about 20+ could have won for different reasons . To say that one game is better is a pointless exercise if anyone can convince me why this game is better than a host of others i will gladly listen :)

I'm a graphics whore, and I think Space Miner is a fine choice. Of course, I would have preferred if Galaxy on Fire 2 or Chaos Rings had been chosen, but Space Miner is good. I'm glad it's finally getting some recognition.

Space Miner is a good choice for GOTY, but Aralon should've been runnerup.

Why is it that the game of the year is always a game I've never heard of >.>

Maybe you don't spend a lot of time at toucharcade? Both years' games got a lot of love in the news postings.

Man, I don't know what to say. Space Miner is a great game but I just can't come to acknowledge that it's the game of the year.

Best Game Ever. I no longer play it but when I did, it was my life. My Life. This from an original Asteroids addict, you know, back in the day when the only place you could play videogames was in the pub or at the seaside. So my opinion counts. At least as much as anyone else's.

I thought that the Buyers Guide failed to embody the year's true greats.

This is an excellent pick. Original, fun, graphics, replay value, personality, everything on the checklist is complete. A game that revolutionizes the device (not just being a graphics whore) should be picked, especially by an indie dev. You can sort of compare the greatness of Bryce Manor and Space Miner back to back. Perfect choice.

I strongly disagree with the choice, though many others agree. It's just not my preferred flavour. Nonetheless, it's all opinion-based, so people shouldn't really be complaining.

That, my friends, is what all this comes down to.

Personally, I think Space Miner is one of the best games to come out this year. You can never appease everybody when you have to choose a "best" game but Venan certainly deserves such recognition.

Totally agree with the iPod Touch picks. I don't have an iPad so can not comment on World of Goo but based on all the love it has been getting I can see why it was chosen. Happy as well that Plants vs Zombies snuck in there as an iPad choice since I played that straight out on the iPod Touch!

    Nice work TA.

I don't think Space Miner was a bad choice but I don't think it was a good choice either.

Anyways, HAPPY NEW YEAR to the Mods, Devs, and most importantly, the players! 2011 is gonna be AWESOME!

    Right. Behind. You.
I think this thread should be erased because it's supposed to be putting down Aralon, not Space Miner. People will read it without looking at the post date and think, "What do you have against Space Miner?!" which was a game much, much more deserving than Aralon.
