Wow, how can you say the DS has nothing but crappy kiddie games then mention the App Store... Fart apps, Barbie, Disney, Sheep Launcher, Cooking Dash, I could go on forever, this is the worst argument I've seen. Apple doesn't even allow games with "adult blood", what ever that is. I'm not trying to start anything, I'm just being realistic.
Both have crappy games, it's just that the App Store also has a ton of great games. DS has about 20 max. ...and incidentally, I own all of the DS games I think are great, and now there's nothing to look forward to... but he App Store gets the excitement going with something new almost every day.
Scribblenauts and Kingdom Hearts comes out next month, look good to me. I know the app store comes out with games frequently but even if I combine $30 worth of apps they don't get the amount of time and value I get out of a single DS game. But I agree the App Store keeps the excitement going.
Well, remember the DLC abilities the appstore possesses now. If they wanted to, bigger companies could make full games of the same size for the iPhone and iPod Touch and split them up into separate pieces, put the main piece there for download and the rest of the game, you could get via in game DLC purchases that add up to $30 if you get all of them. The main piece though should be quite small and cheap. That way, one doesn't have to pay the full price or the high price if he turns out not liking the game. But if he does, he could buy the rest of it. I think it's a pretty legit idea, if you ask me.
i like your idea with DLC,hahahaha for me,PSP is for hardcore gamers-those who wants greater graphics, longer playtime, portable XBOX/PS2/3 games DS is for gamers who wants fun, better gameplay and interaction with the game(like blowing on the mic to cast magic) and iDevice is the balanced combination of the two, that give it great potential it has great graphics, fun gameplay, game interactions(like shaking, tilting, rubbing, etc.),but shorter playtime with all of those things I mentioned,I think iDevices are quickly developing into a better gaming device, maybe in the future game devlopers/companies will have more interest in making complete and console-quality games for iDevices the future of iDevices as gaming device will still depend on Apple and game developers and maybe also a release of a well-designed physical controlpad we cannot take away the truth that sometimes games are meant with these buttons that's all for me, hope you understand me because i'm not american nor from an english speaking country, hahahahahaa
I dont think the originale psp and ds has a chance againste the idevices but now pspgo and dsi is coming with alot of stuff that will drag it up to the idevices level. i own a dsi and i love it, it the perfekt gaming machine and i am real looking forward to the stuff that is coming into the dsi shop. But in pick up and play the ipod touch is best
That's a big old load of cobblers. There are at least 100 excellent games in the DS's catalogue. I could even name them for you.
I could name about that many excellent iPhone games too. And thats in just 1 year, not 5! And probably less than 1/3 of the cost too!
You gotta be freaking kidding me. Ok, here's a little game for you: I'm going to name 50 excellent Nintendo DS games. I'll let you name 200 Iphone games (because these are way cheaper). Then we compare the quality of these an you'll realize how the DS library craps all over the iPhone library, is not even funny. Go ahead if you feel that confident
Go for it! (I love both, and my iPod has had FAR more gametime in 2009, but 100 'excellent' games on the iPod so far is a real stretch. 50, maybe.)
There are FOR SURE 50 B to AA titles on the iPhone. Here's a list of what I think are good-great games for this amazing device: In no particular order: Doodle Jump Zen Bound Real Racing Need for Speed: Underground Crash Kart Siberian Strike F.A.S.T. World of Tunes Zenonia Gangstar Assasin's Creed Hero of Sparta Toki Tori Rolando 2 Rolando Sway iCopter (shut up I like it) Westbang (I hold the high score for this at Ugly) Edge Baseball Slugger Ragdoll Blast Real Soccer Peggle Bejeweled 2 Block Breaker Deluxe 2 Flight Control Harbor Master Inkvaders Minigore Zombieville iDracula 7 Day Zombie Alive-4-Ever Geo Fighter Nano Fighter CS.One Occurro Isotope 2079 Kryzer Space Invaders Infinity Gene Centipede Alien Invader Space Ninja Spy Bot Chronicles Wolfenstein RPG Castle of Magic Monkey Ball Bloons Tiger Woods PGA Tour Iron Fist 2.0 Resident Evil 4 Mobile Edition Terminator Spider Bryce Manor (whatver order that name goes in) The Sims 3 Duke Nukem 3D (Where is the update!!!?) Doom Resurrection Wolfenstein 3D Prey Invasion Touchgrind Myst Touch KO I hate tower defense games so I didn't list any, but if you're into that genre, there are probably 6 or so great titles you can pick from that genre. What else did I miss?
Although I will admit the top 5 games for the DS and the top 5 games for the PSP are better than any game in that list I provided. But soon we'll have that sorta depth in our games.
Damn, you are getting to the bottom of the barrel with that list. Some of those games are downright terrible, specially if you are trying to compare them to DS games. Hell, I don't think that there's a single iPhone game (aside from Spider) that's better than the DSiWare Stuff like Art Style: PiCTOBiTS and Mighty Flip Champs which are also pretty cheap.
Dudes, if you think that statement was a lie, then you must be buying the wrong games or living on planet nintendo. I could easily list 100 excellent iPhone games, but i'm not sad and pathetic enough to do it. Tell you what though, I'll link to the iPhone Games Network's review section. You can sort by score (out of 5) by my quick estimate they have 80 games that scored 4.5 or 5. I would consider that pretty conclusive evidence for my case. http://www.iphonegamenetwork.com/category/game-reviews
Sorry bro, but there are not 100 excellent titles for the iDevices. There isn't even 35 excellent (excellent meaning 8.5 and above by my definition) for it. But there are very easily 70-80 good games you can find on there.
they all have there place in there pace is what i think. i use my psp actually pretty often for more hardcore gaming(and final fantasy 7) on the go- while i also use use my ipod extensively so that i can play short addictive games while listening to music and having much more portability. although i do think that the ds is definitely losing its flare (being the most dissapointing gaming device i have ever purchased) with the worst graphics available at the moment and the dsi has just poorly ripped off the idevice snd lost its #1 place in the casual gaming by nintendo's poor choices
Some people still haven't realized that most of the stuff that you pay for in the APP store is stuff that developers could do for free as an internet flash game. There aren't any "real" games with a lot of "meat" and content outside of a few exceptions. Seriously, if you are listing Minigore and iDracula as some of the standout titles on the platform, then seriously you have some terrible taste (I like those games, but you gotta be crazy to think that these are more than just a simple diversion / time wasters).
