I honestly don't care that you think it's an "approximation". I wouldn't pay $20 for pretty much the same game just because it's made by Rockstar.

It'd really have to be impressive. But it wouldn't do very well in the charts regardless I think.

The problem with a good developer making an i-game for $40 is that many of the junky developers will wanna sneak in on the bandwagon. This will cause some bad results for the most part. It will make so many devs think its ok to raise prices regardless of the quality of their app.

Great points. Also advertising costs more for DS and PSP games. They put expensive ads in magazines and on tv. Games here rely heavily on word of mouth advertising.

I have no problem paying more than a couple of bucks for a high quality game like Real Racing, but $10 is my current limit. Plus given all the above reasons, I don't think a good iPhone/iTouch game needs to cost as much as the psp or ds games.

I'd be willing to spend $20 max, $10 for a really good game and $20 if it included really good online multiplayer.

I would love to see some higher priced "full" games on the App Store. Considering the iPhone is capable of running Playstation games like Final Fantasy 7 inside of unoptimized homebrew emulators...

...the stuff we could be seeing if there was a substantial development budget behind it would be mind-blowing.

So FF7 is $10 in the PS Store. So to the iphone $10...fair enough.

Hopefully not more ports. Something unique, utilizing the strengths of the iPhone.

    No. 2 reasons :
    - first one : a DS (or PSP) game comes with a box, a book and you can sell it if you want. It's the same for the music, I'll never pay the same price for a CD and a download.
    - second one : I have lots of games on my devices, but I try to buy them on "secondhand" because I think the prices are too high.

On the App Store, my more expensive purchase is Zenonia (5.99€). I spent on it more than 37 hours, so it's a very cheap price. But I don't know if I would give it a try with a price higher than 15$.

Imagine that, would put all the game stores out of business. The games would be cheaper given that they would no longer be a physical item that has to be produced for each customer.

if 30-40$$$ was the norm for a decent Touch game then i probably would pay it as i'd know no different. but it isn't the norm. it's no where near the norm.

the best Touch games i've played generally cost in the $1-$3 region, so why would i pay 10 times more for, what is in essence, just another game? nothing is worth a hike in price like that. so a brave company trying out a price like this would certainly not get my custom. but as mentioned, if it was the case that the average game was in this region then i'd not think differently. but its not.

I think those companies will be in shock, when no one buys their consoles and/or games anymore.

There are too many people who are not willing to pay that money. Hell, many are too cheap to pay 800MSP for an Arcadegame on XBL.

That said, i myself would be willing to pay these prices (or 30-40 for iDevice games) but that would be an absolute exception. I can't see myself buying more than 2-3 titles a year at those prices.

It's just not reasonable enough compared to prices of downloadable games on the pc.
