I also would think that would be cool maybe something like a first person splinter cell or something else like that.
That would be pretty cool. Or something like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Or even something like the original Ghost Recon, but without the squad. Big, open stages (maybe procedurally generated) with a couple primary and secondary tasks to accomplish. Make it so you can approach the situation how you would like. Guns blazing, stealth, or anything in between.
Depends on the type of game. If it's more like Ghost Recon, you could have simple missions of collecting intel, then taking out a hidden enemy base that you locate by doing two or three intel missions. This would also allow you to wander about the stage, taking down enemies without worrying about the missions as well. The stage would bee complete by either taking down all enemies on the stage, or by completing all the missions.
May I suggest that you play some classic PC FPS games? At least a few among these (or their sequels): - Deus Ex - Call of Duty - System Shock - Halo - Far Cry - Crysis - Half-life - Bioshock - Duke Nukem - Fallout 3 - Borderlands - S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Serious Sam -... You know, just try two, three, maybe more of these. You don't have to beat them just play them for a few hours and perhaps you'll discover an interesting mechanic that you'll want to implement into your own game. Or if you ever need to find some extra motivation. I also listed those because these games take place in a lot of different settings: WW2, Cyberpunk, Fantasy, Post-Apocalyptic, Sci-Fi, Horror, Steampunk and some are modern. Just wanted to let you know that there are far more interesting settings out there and that might convince you to break the monotone modern-setting mold. If you're planning on making a stealth shooter, here are some you should try: - Thief - The Operative: No One Lives Forever - Chronicles of Riddick - Dishonored I really think playing a few of these could benefit a lot to your creative process. Not to be a dick, but I don't think a one-man team could successfully pull of a good stealth shooter for a mobile device. Even guys with big teams, big budgets, bigger platforms can rarely pull that off. Good stealth shooters are more rare than those poops where you don't have to wipe. Not to even start mentioning the AI, the importance of lights/shadows and how hard that would be to see and control on a mobile device. And procedurally generated? Hah, that's a joke. Guns blazing OR stealth? Yeah, no... Don't do that. It never works.
Thank you for your feedback Elsa. Out of that list, I have played Call of Duty, Half Life 2, and Crysis: Warhead, Crysis 2 and Crysis 3. Though I have played those, I'm not sure what mechanics I could put into my game that those games have, sorry. :/ I think maybe I will just make it so on each level there are enemies, or guards, and you have to take them out without them calling some kind of alert, kind of like Counter Spy or Hitman: Sniper, and then the alert could just spawn in more enemies or some other kind of punishment. I'm still not 100% sure so any other feedback would be awesome.
Here's a new video I just recorded, please tell me your thoughts Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
