You slighted me right in the face!! I read somewhere Apple knew this was going to be divisive. Should be interesting to see what the mood is like in a couple months
It's as ALWAYS. Same things will happen as with every new iOS release. Want a prediction? 1. People know only a few facts, seen the keynote, major uproar, only a few defendants of the new iOS7. 2. New iOS released, some people like it but most are yelling at Apple and there are fights in forums. 3. Time passed, people get acquainted with iOS7. 3.5 More time passes. 4. Announcement of iOS8. Major uproar, because people want to keep iOS7 and curse Apple for redesigning iOS7. It's a circle.
Ha. I've haven't paid attention to TA during a new OS release before so it should be interesting. At least as gamers we have controller support incoming
In my opinion, the GameCenter icon and interface are both no better than they are now. We'll see if they get improved before the release... I hope so. There's just too much white and empty space, and the bubbles are completely unrelated to GC whatsoever. Cool, the green felt is gone, but now we have bubbles and the majority of the screen is white? Its no better, in my opinion.
I must admit I'm a bit shocked by how many people here don't like the new look. I'd be interested to find out if there is a correlation to how many people like the look and how long they've had an iPhone. I've had one over four years and think the change is long overdue. Most of the tech critics I read had similar impressions. I wonder if some of the people who hate the change simply haven't had an iPhone as long and still find the current look to be new and amazing?
Well I owned four generations of iPhones since 3GS, but while I like the new features and the new font, I've not yet made up my mind on the flat design and definitely leaning towards the negative side with those color choices.
I'm thinking the opposite. Some people just see any change at all and go "OMG SO COOOL!" when it really wasn't necessary in the first place. If there are good reasons behind the redesign then I'll go with it, but if it's just a case of keeping with the current fad and copying the other companies then Steve Jobs will be turning in his grave. I dunno, I'm just not that impressed with designs I can do myself. I'm not especially talented, but if you can use the marquee and gradient tools in Photoshop, you can design your very own iOS 7.
and slapping photo textures onto the gui is more hard? designing a single item is never difficult, but designing a cohesive gui across the boards is alot of work. not sure if they got it.. need to try it out first
It sucks that Apple didn't take a page from Android on this one. Google Play allows you to opt-in or out at the app level. I like this method because you can keep auto updates for smaller games and keep it off for those gigantic games (because it will fail if you don't have enough space). You can then make your own judgment on updating bigger games if you think it's worth it. Oh and the toggle on Android is right in the Play store so you can set it the very first time you download something.
I'm just glad it has a cellular data option. I always download instantly if I'm on WiFi, so I'll turn it on for that.
i dont see the point? if the autoupdate cant update app x due to space limits why would you need to exclude it manually if the update wont be possible anyway? im somewhat sure their autoupdate routine is clever enough to not pester you with notification about space issues over and over again. what i would rather see is the possibility to not download always the complete app but only the parts that are updated or neccessary for your device. This would make universal apps alot smaller if you dont carry all assets for every device around.
I don't see alot of functionality added either, I guess I was hoping for more, such as social media more integrated into notification centre or stuff that you access constantly being upfront without opening each app...I guess a bit like a dashboard.
Some of us forgot that this is beta. The released one should look a bit better, at least. And their maps icon don't have that stupid drive off the bridge onto the road below anymore.
While I still am scared about updating, I absolutely want iOS 7. It's the most gorgeous interface I've ever seen. It looks amazing... it just... wow. I was blown away by it. It looks beautiful <3 It kept reminding me of the simple yet elegant interface of Zune way back in the day. I used to adore that. So yes, either I will update to iOS 7 or get the next iPhone in line! Oh, and the quick settings, a la SBSettings for jailbroken iPhones? Honestly the only other reason I want to jailbreak... and now it's coming to us as an official addition!
Ah dude, I was slowly coming to accept the new design. You'll set my therapy back six months with a statement like that!
Hahaha, oh no! Ignore what I said then! I loved the Zune interface, though. Especially the redesign for the desktop software. That was so pretty <3 But I'm sorry. Yes. -straightens up- Zune.. bleck. iPod yay
Supposedly the new UI looks better in motion than in screenshots. I have only seen screenshots and it looks... well kind of bad. So I need to check out some of those videos, I just haven't had a chance. For the record, I am an iPhone user and love my iPhone 4. I'm also glad I'll be able to install iOS 7 on it.
