Hey guys, most of the regular users know me but i have a really big question for you. I am currently on Sprint but i have the chance to get a new phone. I can get whatever I want and have chosen to get the iPhone 4 so i will go to at&t, but i was also looking at the Evo. If i were to get that I could stay on Sprint and some people are saying it will be better. It might be a 100 dollar cheaper than a 32gig iPhone but I would have to get another ipod touch. So, which one, guys, do you think I should get. Be honest because I know most of us all love Apple but I really want to know your opinions to make the best choice. Thanks!

You won't get an unbiased opinion from me, so let me try to keep it basic.

    1) Do you mind carrying around two devices? That means keeping two devices charged, remembering to take them with you, not dropping them on the floor, etc.

    2) Have you researched the HTC EVO's battery life?

  4. I'm biased toward the iPhone, naturally -- I have vested interests in it after all -- but from the brief bits I've seen of the comparisons between the two via Engadget from WWDC, it looks at the very least like the iPhone's screen is much better, not just in terms of resolution, but brightness and viewing angles, which will presumably effect outdoor viewing as well. When I saw the two side-by-side the Evo's screen looked noticeably darker, less vivid. It kind of shocked me because the Evo uses OLED, which I always thought was far superior even to IPS, but maybe I'm mistaken. The Evo is also a little bit lighter, but also noticeably bigger, and while that's due to the larger screen, I kind of prefer the smaller and thinner form factor. That's a personal preference issue though.

It's hard to say for certain about anything else though. Obviously I'm going to be going with the iPhone 4 myself. They're both good superphones, frankly, but, being as unbiased as I'm capable of, I truly think the iPhone 4 has the edge.

Here's a decent review of the HTC Evo. It's not unbiased either (note the title), but I think it's detailed enough to help you make a decision. Personally, I find the reported battery life shockingly bad.

There are way too many android devices. I like how apple only comes out with a new phone every year. I like knowing my device won't be outdated in 2-3 months. ie: Droid/Droid Shadow/Incredible/Nexus/EVO, etc...

    iPhone > nothing at all.

    just my opinion.

Thanks for the couple opinions so far. Hopefully more people will add but so far i am going with the iPhone. I have always loved it and it is a trustworthy, dependable phone. I have also read the Evo review which does help a little.

I don't think the best place to ask for an unbiased opinion would be one of the largest sites for iPhone gaming ;).

I think everyone has made it clear that their opinion is biased -- it wasn't a big secret.

From everything I've read, the HTC Evo sounds like a decent Android phone, except for the really bad battery life. Personally, I also think it's too big -- I have not need for a screen that size.

If I were in the market for an Android phone, I would probably be looking at the Droid Incredible, which most people agree is the Android device to beat right now.

Yeah, I was about to mention it. It's currently one of CNet's top 5 cellphones, either 2nd or 3rd to the 3GS, naturally. Expect totally different experiences between the two phones, however.

IMO, the iPhone is the best piece of technology that is readily available on the market right now. It demands a steep price, but if you can afford it then it is what you should go for

Depends on your service area - I have the Incredible and I love it but Verizon has a lot of towers where I am. My brother and father have iPhones and I am constantly bailing them out by letting them use my phone because they have no service.

I would love an iPhone but I don't mind carrying two devices AND I don't have to interrupt a game to take a call!

Thanks for the replies. Yeah i never really liked android and i guess you can call me an apple fanboy since i own a mac, ipod touch, and ipad, and even though the palm pre isn't android, it was still a pain and like i said i want something trustworthy and dependable and i am in a good at&t service area, plus talking isn't a big deal right now, just texting. So, iPhone 4 it is?! Can't wait till the 15th to pre-order and 24th to pick up. Thanks guys!

It depends on the service, like here in my part ofIowa, At&T's service SUCKS... So most people don't get iphones, instead a lot get androids. Try looking at IGN's EVO Reveiw, although they are apple fanboys... It doesn't seem that biased.
