Hey guys finally got my iPhone 4 after waiting for 2 weeks! I got it last Friday. 4 days into use, I have already spotted 3 scratches on the front side of the phone. 2 lights ones on the screen and one on the home button. They can not be felt by my finger nail, but you can see them in light. I think it's the oleophobic coating that has been scratched. Anyone know how I can get rid of them without replacing the phone? Thanks

I have the same scratch on mine, just put a screen protector on the front.

Sgp oleophobic is the best I've ever used. Doesn't disrupt then retina display and only $13.95 + free shipping. Search on bay for: sgp iPhone 4

Then seller is electronics depot or you'll love this deal. You'll see it. Try not to be so OCD about your iPhone... lol

Easier said than done right? :p

Yeah thanks, but the home button one just seems to slice right through it... doesn't look nice. Even with the screen protector on it, the shield doesn't cover the button. And I'm not really keen on ordering online. There aren't many good screen protectors so far in the shops here.

  5. Interesting. I'm not using a front protector at the moment because I'm generally pretty careful with my stuff in that regard. I have a skin on the back so I can set it down on surfaces without marring the back though.

I don't have one on the front though because I like the crystal clarity and smooth-touch, easy movement of finger-on-glass, so how does this screen feel when using it? (Sliding your finger around in particular. Is it tacky or slick?)

Screen protectors are a downgrade from the beautiful smooth glass screen, one thing that definitely sets these phones above the competition.

Unless you are a dropper, or keep your phone loose in a purse with keys, I would recommend against it.

The glass is extremely scratch resistant. I had a 3GS for a year, and sold it with a flawless screen, and it's not like I tried super hard.

In your case since it's only 2 weeks old and you are unhappy with it, I would return the phone and say it arrived with defects.

I wouldn't say the screen is incredibly scratch resistant. My iPod Touch 3G, without the oleophobic coating and a lot of care as to making sure I don't drop it or put it in the same pocket with coins or keys, has a couple of small scratches that slightly warp the light giving this rainbow effect. It's annoying, but not a deal breaker. I just don't know how they pop up.

SGP Oleophobic is like having no screen protector on your display at all. It does not reduce clarity at all. There is also no drag on the screen. You won't even know it's there. Great products.

Is it easy to apply? When I bought a case for my iPhone 4 I got 3 free screen protectors. The first 2 I messed up completely, and the last I managed to align correctly but there were loads of air bubbles that I couldn't even get out with the card. So I just took it off.

Interesting about the oleographic screen protector. As for poorly applied protectors, you can get out every air bubble by sliding a piece of scotch tape under it to grab the dust flecks. Check YouTube for video demonstrations.

Mine is still pristine and I've been lugging it around for the whole of July. I use SGP Crystal Clear screen protectors on the front and back, in my opinion, it makes using the phone an even nicer experience, it's slick as can be.
