A physical drive would seem more like a step back then a step forward. More energy, moving parts, less self-contained, bigger chance of mechanical failure...
Yeah, that's what I thought, too. Doesn't make much sense. Of course, who am I to question the great deity that is Mr. Jobs?
I'll be damned. I wonder how much Giz had to shell out to get their hands on it, 'cos that's a pretty huge scoop. You just don't normally get that kind of hard evidence of any Apple product, mostly just rumors and questionable shots from Mr. Blurrycam and faked internal memos and keynote points, never what appears to be conclusive, hard, in-your-damn-hands proof. Won't be a physical drive though. Too many things can go wrong with bumps and drops, they're slow, and they draw more energy. Plus, 80GB still fits a solid state memory model (64+16), though it seems a bit odd. I expected 64GB anyway, but 80 is better. I can finally stop pruning my music to fit apps on my 32GB. (Yes, I have a lot of music.) It's looking like this is more and more legit, though there's still a little doubt here. However, assuming this is true, I'm definitely gonna reup my contract and upgrade our phones when it's released.
Well this is pretty much proof that it is real: "Apple-connected John Gruber—from Daring Fireball—says that Apple has indeed lost a prototype iPhone and they want it back: It sounds very nice. It's a shame that Apple managed to remotely lock it, I want to see "HD" screen running.
If that really is the new iPhone (and until it's actually released I won't believe it is), that is one fugly phone and a big step back design wise.
I don't see anything wrong with it. It may not win Jonny Ive another black pencil, but I think it's pretty attractive and a refreshing design departure that sets it apart nicely from its predecessors.
Now I've read the report on Gizmondo, I'm actually warming to the design. I never really liked the curved back of the 3G/3GS (I have an original iPhone) and apparently, this iPhone 4G feels a lot better to hold and more sturdier - it also has metal buttons which I think is a nice improvement on the plastic buttons. I bet Apple is pissed though, the idiot who lost it in the bar will probably get fired, lol. And I'm surprised they didn't try and bribe the person who found it to return it (for a large amount of money) so it didn't get leaked.
This device it hot. And seems to be real, Gizmodo proofs it. The iPhone got mature and does fit way better to the MacBook family. Personally, this is looking twice as good as my actual iPhone. Can't wait to get this baby.
i am not sure what you think. Could you beleive it,that was found in a lost bar. perhaps this is a imitation and looks like a brick addition
I totally believe this is real, and is also how gizmodo will make their fortune. $5 tickets to touch the iphone 4g. I just hope the ipod touch 4g is as cool.
Seems to me they've switched places. The old MacBooks had harder edges, the new ones (late 2009 and onwards) have curved edges like the current iPhone. Not that it matters too much, anyone that doesn't dig the new style can go buy a case and ta-daa, curved edges again.
so it's pretty much confirmed. http://gizmodo.com/5520164/this-is-apples-next-iphone a camera flash, front facing video, improved display resolution, Glass back...
If the glass is back as they're saying -- and all signs point to yes on that one -- then it'll be a lot harder to scratch just from incidental contact like plastic or shiny aluminum. Assuming you're not accident prone and don't use a battery case all the time, this is one phone you could, with some careful handling, use without a case without fear of getting all scratched up. I'm all for that.
Oh, right. Forgot basic math for a sec there. Well, now that Gizmodo's fought with it for a while, I'm liking this thing all the more. Design seems more conservative, and I like it. Took me a while to get used to the curviness of the new iPod Touch after switching from a first gen, so this would be the iPhone to get for me. Seems like America doesn't like it, though. AAPL keeps dropping.
