*snerk* I know they got an exclusive on this and shelled out five-large for the prototype so they could examine and dissect it, but yeah... they've kinda been milking this one a little beyond the point of dry.
they returned the device. does matter, it's was only a prototype ,the next iphone will not look like that
Considering they've likely been working on this since the last iPhone, this would be a late prototype, which means it's almost certainly going to look, if not exactly like that, very close. Also, the fact that an employee was out field testing it (something Apple has been known to do since the first iPhone) pretty much says this is the one that, providing it works well in the wild, they will be going with.
iPhone 4G Protype I just want to know if you like the design right now if it was released as is. In my option I like the hard lines and square look. If you do not follow tech or not an apple fan or just been living under a rock here is the link to The Tale of Apple's Next iPhone by Gizmodo http://gizmodo.com/5520471/the-tale-of-apples-next-iphone There was another site I looked at that said they don't like it and has concepts a guy made. There nice and all but It is just like the 3GS just a little more shiny and square. Check the link to see http://www.mobilemag.com/2010/04/22/what-will-the-iphone-4-actually-look-like/
It does look fat but is actually thinner than the current 3G and 3GS. There's a thickness comparison when they're put side to side and I couldn't believe my eyes either.
O.O I just checked that out. Can't believe it. It is slightly thinner. Anyone have an idea of how much this will cost?
I actually never thought it looked fat, all the components shoved in there must be stuffed the aluminum wraparound makes it look heavy to me though. but apparently it's only a few grams..?
3 grams heavier, yes. But apparently the new design feels much more solid. As I've said I like the design and would love if this was the final version.
To me, it reminds me of the nice look from every other crappy touchscreen phone, but this one actually works. This should be awesome, the only issue is that I have a year to go on my contract...
Supposedly. There's a lot that's fishy about that one. 1) What's that screen? It seems to be some sort of benchmark or just an ordinary screenshot of something. It doesn't move and the writing at the bottom doesn't correlate to anything iPhone-related. 2) Why doesn't he do anything else with it? If the phone was remotely wiped, he'd get the normal "Connect to iTunes" screen. 3) How the hell did it get to Vietnam? 4) There's no way in hell Apple would let another one leak, not with the massive publicity they got with the first (only?) one that did and all the legal action that's going down. They'd have those protos locked down tighter than a gitmo detainee. 5) At 3:07 he presses the home button but nothing happens. 6) This one says 16MB on the back instead of XXMB. Could mean it's a more finalized pre-production model, though. If it's a fake, it's a pretty convincing fake from all observable angles save for whatever that is on the screen. But I'm not convinced this is genuine.
I'd like to know why some people on AT&T that bought the 3GS 12 months ago are getting a full upgrade so early. I pay almost $250/m on AT&T with 3 iPhone 3G's and were not due for an upgrade until October...
I don't know how it is with AT&T but in Canada, Apple made a deal with Rogers to allow early re-upping for iPhone users -- and we have 3 year contracts. Rogers grumbled about it but I guess they realized they'd still make more money that way and keep people hooked longer. Plus they're competing with Bell's new 3G network now. I know AT&T still has exclusivity (as far as we know anyway) but I'd imagine they'd want to hook people to renew their contracts, especially if, as rumours quietly have it, the exclusivity deal may end sooner than the 5 years it was revealed they struck a deal for.
