What's on your wishlist for 4.0 next year? Mine is flash player for both platforms, multi-tasking hopefully for at least the iPhone, and someway to organize apps. (I though that that would be fixed with spotlight but all it's useful for is people who have alot of apps and I got only three pages so I don't need it.) Oh and, these are only the main features I'm hoping for 4.0 there's definitely more but this is it for now
Ummmmm......new UI for the iDevice? Seriously the iPhone UI looks outdated compared to the Pre, Sense UI, and the Zune HD.
+1 for the UI revamp. Spotlight helps alleviate some of the problems but some kind of category view etc would be good.
App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.
i would love nanobots to be sent via signals to the idevice in question to automatically give the idevice in question a hardware upgrade to later generations of idevice if any. and ya time travel via flux capacitor would be cool. oh and the option to choose whether you wanna copy text or the URL when copying a hyperlink.
Has anyone seen the Flash experience on a mobile? From all accounts the HTC Hero's Flash implementation actually hurts the mobile browser experience. Until Apple allows the blocking of adverts in Safari (yeah I know about the cydia app that does it, but it's crap), then I don't want to see massive flash ads causing the rendering of my page to slow to glacial speeds. Think people! Flash is great on a desktop with loads of resources and bandwidth, but on a phone it's not something I'm losing sleep over.
My ideal update: 1. FOLDERS! Dammit, it's way past time. Screw adding pages. We don't need more pages to put things on, we need folders to put them IN. It's OS X for cryin' out loud. The capabilities are already there. Git 'er done, Apple. 2. While we're organizing, can we get some sort options, like alphabetical or chronological order? Kthxbye. 3. Skinning. At least some nod to it anyway. Let us change the dock and backgrounds at the very least, even if you don't want people monkeying with the dial pad or other UI elements -- though that would be even nicer. 4. Multitasking. Come on, push notification is a backwards and roundabout way to offer some kind of nod toward background operations. It's great for certain aspects that you don't really need loaded all the time, but let's face it: Getting kicked out of a game or app suddenly by an incoming phone call sucks, and I really don't want to have to quit to respond to a text message either, or access the full iPod app. 5. Flash. Even more past due than folders. Seriously, put the crap politics with Adobe aside and do it, k? Just freakin' do it already. I know Flash is an enormous pig on CPU resources. At this point people just don't give a crap. Do it. Even if you have to restrict it to the 3GS (and presumably G3 Touch) due to the increased memory and CPU usage, I'd be cool with that, and you'd even get an extra selling point for the 3GS/Touch G3, yeah? Maybe Java, too, but that's not quite as big a deal. 6. More codec support. Nobody -- and I mean that quite literally, there are literally zero people who like having to convert movies and music specifically to an iPod-supported format. I know this is all politics to get more developers to support H.264 because that's what Quicktime uses by default and you want everyone using Quicktime, but believe me when I tell you nobody else wants that. Not only that, anyway. Stop being so xenophobic and elitist and get more codecs in there. 7. A real equalizer. Arbitrary presets are about as appealing as a bag of smashed assholes. Give me a real damn 5 or 10-band EQ. This is also way past due.
Flash, Folders and better performance of course. ... Wait!? Do you think we could have a GPS and a keyboard like the keyboard for Xbox Live but adapted for the iPod so people with big finger will be happy (By the way I didn't have big fingers. It's a precision ). Xbox Live Keyboard:
Something like Locale for Android would be pretty neat. Automatic location and time-based profile changes for application settings. http://www.twofortyfouram.com/product.html
But seriously, I want better Flash, faster loading times, folders, and themes. If Apple doesn't want so much jailbreaking, then give the people what they want.
