Ok, here's my problem, there's a giant piece of dirt under my iPod screen. I looked at it under a stereo microscope, and, appearantly it's a piece of glass, wich covers about 5x5 pixels. I discovered it about 1 hour ago, and earlier today it wasn't there. I haven't done anything strange with it, it was just laying on a book. I've searched for big scrathes or other things wich could have caused the problem, haven't found a thing.

Is it possible to fix this for free, I still have the guarantee license, so I'm just wondering.

ok, so i havnt tried this, but its what i came up with real quick.

grab your moms/sisters/girlfriends vibrator and a vaccum cleaner with hose extension and edge extension

    still with me, ok.

hold the iphone upside down with the power button facing the floor.

hold the procured vibrator against the back of the iphone and turn it on.

turn on your vaccum cleaner and try to suck the foreign object from the earphone slot using the hose extension with edge attachment

    just my $.02

    hope it does something :)

    alternatively

if said vibrator cannot be obtained, try the spin cycle on your respective clothes washing machine

    Australia, mate!
I'm interested to know how the piece of glass got under the screen.

I'll bring it to the app store, and I'll get angry if they reject it. There seems to be a weird way to fix this, heat up the iPod/phone, so the glue wich holds the glass will turn into a liquid, and you can lift up the screen, remove the dirt, and put it back.

In case of an iPhone 3gs; if your iPhone breaks, just burn it, tell apple it exploded, and receive a new iPhone!

From my experience at the Apple Store, if it is in any way possible that what happened to the iPhone was not your fault, they will give you a new one on the spot. I've brought in one that I dropped flat on the glass and stopped accepting input on the lower section -- replaced, not problem. I brought one that I plugged in with a wet dock (and basically short-circuited it) -- also replaced. Be polite about it, tell them you have no idea how it happened (which is the truth, so it should be no problem to deliver convincingly).

    Good luck!

    Thanks!
I'm still wondering how that piece came under my screen. I've been very carefull with my iPod, never dropped it, etc. I have no (visible) scrathes on my screen, no cracks, how does a piece of glass get there? I'll try to make a photo or something, trough a microscope, so you can see it with your own eyes.

Btw, I'm stunned about how an iPod/iPhone looks under a microscope, countless little scratches on my home button!

I had a mark under my screen too and brought it to the apple store. They said the seal on the screan broke and dust got under it. They replaced it for free and this might be the case for you.
