Yeah, because the DS version of Madden is simply AMAZING compared to the iDevice version (rolls eyes). See attachments below of the DS screens of the game. I'll stick with the iDevice Madden thank you.

The the DS is probably the best of these devices for FPS' controls. As an example Moon's (an adventure/FPS) controls are amazing, the character is controlled with the D-pad, the view and actions like opening doors are controlled via the touchscreen and the L-shoulderbutton is for shooting.

Hmm, I still say iPhone has the best controls.
Fannying about with a virtual pen on a touch screen as well as having to press buttons at the same time isn't really my thing.
The iPhone has the accelerometer which is exteremely useful for racing/flying games. And it also doesn't need any buttons because the touch screen can be used for virtual buttons/joysticks an th devs can make their own control systems.

    Yes, Really:

    PSP:

    iDevice:

Or we could do fair comparisons:

    iDevice:
    Rolando 2
    [IMG]

    PSP:
    Locoroco 1
    [IMG]

    PSP:
    Gran Turismo:

    iDevice:
    Real Racing:

Basicly, the PSP is better in the graphics department, at the moment (remember this is all opinion)

It's basically like playing on a keyboard and a mouse, which isn't very hard for that many, I adapted it in 2 secs.
And the accelerometer isn't a good control option on the idevices, because it requires turning the screen (except in racing games where the screen isn't turned farther from the player, if anyone understands what I mean). On the Wii it works because it doesn't disturb the view.

How in the world are you looking at those pics and concluding that the PSP has better graphics?

Hahaha, I knew someone would try to prove me wrong, even though you completely missed the point of my post.
I'm guessing you didn't read any of what I quoted or wrote myslef, and just looked at the pictures?
I was simply correcting the statement: 'even the best iPod games don't look as good as the worst PSP games. '.
I wasn't saying that the iPhone could produce better graphics than the PSP (which it can, btw.).
I found some screenshots of poor-average PSP games, and compared them with some average-good iPhone games just to show the difference and prove the statement wrong.

Ok, I know it was a joke, but you should compare the first game to Modern Combat: Sandstorm in terms of graphics.

For the other games, I really don't know how you see that the graphics in those shots are better than the iDevice ones...I really don't know...Personally I think that the graphics on each of these screens slightly favor the iDevices.

PSP Games completely blow apart iPhone games. They're longer, have better graphics, are actually finished when they're out in the shops and have extras like decent online play and PS3 connectivity.

Yet I still rate the iPhone as an equal to the PSP.

Why? Obviously, iPhone games are very cheap - hell, even for $9.99 you're getting a bargain, with even the cheapest games offering a lot of hours of fun. Although PSP Games are better by a while, the classics on the iPhone come damn close, and are a lot better for your wallet.

It is the quantity or quality argument, but the iPhone can do quality at cheap prices.

Since I first discovered Fieldrunners, my PSP and DS have been gathering dust. Kinda peeved, since I have nearly every PSP game (CFW and about 100 gigs of ISOs), but can't even bring myself to try them.

Since my company uses the iPhone as their standard smartphone, I can play games and look like I'm checking my email :)

Yeah, the iDevice screenshots look better than the PSP screenshots IMO.
I have owned every single PSP model (except for PSP Go, of course) and have played pretty much all of the best games for the platform. My PSP now gets zero love. My PSP only has one use now - the alarm clock (from a web browser portal). I used to be quite a hardcore PSP gamer, and kicked ass on Socom FTB2 online MP. But I now think that the iPhone has tons of potential, and we are already past the stage where we are seeing games of better than PSP quality in terms of graphics, controls, gameplay, sound etc. I love the graphics of my iPhone, the PSP's graphics just seem so blocky, jagged and rough in comparison. I don't know quite what it is, but the PSP has always had a grainy, jagged, low res look graphically wise, whatever game you play.
iPhone > PSP from my experience and in my honest opinion.

The level of detail in gran turismo is amoozing, and locoroco looks so much smoother.

I don't even have a PSP though, so i don't really care that much. But I'm ill and no-ones on facebook

    Wow

as a owner of all 3 i can make a fair judgement.

I think the psp is the best followed by the ds.
No argument that the iphone is a great handheld and the pricing is great but i would like to play games like:

    - Crisis core final fantasy vii
    - kingdom hearts 358/2 days
    - metal gear solid: portable ops
    - Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines
    - LittleBigPlanet portable
    - god of war chains of olympus
    - scribblnauts
    - ninja gaiden dragon sword
    - the world ends with you

as i said before the iphone is awesome to

I have owned all 3 at one time or another. I don't own a PSP anymore though.

As a gamer, I enjoyed the DS the most. It seemed to have the best controls and the games (mostly talking about Nintendo games here) were a great balance of depth and portability.

I loved the PSP hardware the most as a standalone portable game system though, but I didn't find it very fun to play most of the games on-the-go. Mainly the battery and control nub and game design. Generally I think most PSP games were designed like it was a PS2 so some of the "portable gaming" aspect was lost.

These days, the only portable I play is the iPhone. I don't think it has the best controls (they are the worst by far), but the fact that it is all-in-one allows it to truly be a portable machine for me. I'm 27 and don't really want to carry around a portable game console... But, I can carry a phone/video player/GPS/game console all in one device and even buy games wherever I am!

The PSP Go doesn't have better graphics than the ordinary PSP.
I still think the iPhone's graphics are better as they are clearer/less grainy and often display higher texture resolution.

NFS: Undercover PSP (look at all those jagged edges and poor quality textures):

NFS: Undercover iPhone/iPod Touch (much smoother edges and higher texture and lighting quality):

Wait a second, now people honestly believe that the iPhone (even 3GS) games look better than PSP games? In what world do you kids live?

Have you guys seen stuff like Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, or Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep?

Not even your lord Gameloft is going to make anything close to match the visuals in the games aforementioned.

I think that preferences over graphics is personal matter when there is little difference between the two. I prefer iPhone graphics over PSP graphics. That is my opinion, having had plenty of experience with both devices.
