News: I contacted Apple and they want me to send it in via mail. So I guess that's what I'm gonna do.

Apple is very forgiving I went in today with a broken iPhone earbud and they (without testing it or asking for a receipt) gave me a new just like that. I had owned it for around a year, so it wasn't brand new either.

Good thing it's not an iPhone. If it's an iPhone, they'll start talking about their darn water damage excuse and how just putting it into your pocket will break it, just so they don't have to fix it and they get money. Have you recently been eating cotton candy, or perhaps roasted marshmallows?
