It's not even worth $4.99, with the 10 by 20 game "map". NOVA is $3 cheaper, has much more exciting multiplayer, and a singleplayer mode that's actually playable (omg!). Oh and better graphics too. I see no competition here. Or was your question a rhetorical one? =P
Does anyone else think the strafe in COD:Zombies is just plain awful? They tried to be like MC:S but failed miserably.
Pulled the trigger I got a $15 iTunes gift card today, so I "pulled the trigger" and purchased COD: Zombies. (bought N.O.V.A. on release day (night - 11p.m. Eastcoast)
haha! They failed miserably at copying MC:S because they didn't!! It doen't use the same control scheme - its not swipe to turn, it is a floating joystick. Try not swiping, just pretend you have another thumbstick and it works great. As to whether you should buy it, they are completely different games and game modes. I find COD a far more impressive game - it is just like the console version which is a pretty amazing feat when you consider it is just an iphone... In terms of gameplay, if you like arcade games then COD is a better bet - you are always going for high scores. If you want a "story" then NOVA has a more traditional singleplayer game. I have enjoyed NOVA, but like all Gameloft games it is very repetitive and shallow, and before I get flamed by the NOVA lovers, it is worth the money as it is only 6.99 (and where else are you going to get a game for less than $10 that would be $30+ on other platforms and probably be not as good..), but it isn't anywhere near as good as the hype/ user reviews (but then agian what is!!). In terms of multiplayer, they are both good and different - one is co-op the other is Deathmatch. Summary - buy both as they are different games that just happen to be FPS's, and in answer to your original question of Is COD worth the money - yes, it is an incredible achievement to be playing the xbox360 version of a game on your iphone, and it is an awesome game.
Have it and IMHO not worth the ten bucks. That's just me though. If there'll be a promise for more maps in future updates, then I can justify the price. If you're a big fan of online multiplayers, get it. If you love single player modes, NOVA is the one to beat right now in the genre.
I'm sorry, I seem to be a bit late, but YOU NEED THIS! Yeah, I'm kinda hooked. Great game, if you have the money, go buy it. Idk where the promised levels are... most likely still in the works. Still good for only one map though.
