SarcasticGamer is getting Serious about this. Personally, I'm guessing that ten years from now Doodle Jump will carry more historic weight. (Though I've never actually been much of an "addict," myself.) GTA:Chinatown will mostly be remembered as an appendage of the Grand Theft Auto uber-series. It will be an asterisk in the GTA canon, remembered Because it was a good GTA game for handheld systems, not because it's greatness stood alone. Doodle Jump, however, will play a roll similar to the one historically played by Tetris with the Gameboy. It will be remembered as the game that set off the explosive growth of both the "casual game" on the iPod/iPhone, as well as a major booster for the viability of the idevice as a gaming platform and the AppStore as a marketplace for it. So... To answer the actual question of this thread: I don't know. Haven't played it. Ha! Sounds like "yes" could be the answer, but I'm still unsure about playing it on my 1st Gen.
But doodle jump is preceded by a hell lot of pc flash games with similar core gameplay and even on the iphone itself it is not the 1st to offer 'that' gameplay. It may be mentioned side by side with tetris if only it is the 1st time ever the world play games of its kind but alas the world has seen it way before doodle jump appeared on the appstore. Another thing being mentioned in one TV series doesnt equal instant classic
I got really bored by GTA. I'm much more interested in all the original stuff that comes out on the platform like Comet Racer, Battle Blasters, and Angry Birds. Those are the games that I love the most, not some console experience that has been paired down to mostly work on the iDevice.
I never used originality as an argument for why I think Doodle Jump will be better remembered. I primarily pointed to its influence in the explosion of iDevice+AppStore gaming. (Note- I am NOT claiming that Doodle Jump is the BEST anything. I'm not even a fan.) If originality is a major qualifier for being a "classic," then you're arguing against yourself. GTA:ChinatownWars is not just the seventh GTA game, it's also the third top-down version. Which is why I argued that in ten years, even if no better game for handheld systems comes out, it will still be over-shadowed by the other GTA games when people consider "classic" games.
Umm... this is a hard question, well guerilla bob jus came out yesterday and that game is awesome, but too short, this game however can last forever, and we still have cod zombies which made #1 top grossing,i dont love this game enough to say its the best out right now but it is really fun to play,so i def. recommend it,but as soon as assassins creed 2 comes out, vampire origins and also mirrors edge this game will not be no where close to the best, but still a good game to have. So i say its one the best, but not the best, the best is too hard of a pick, what really matters is if its the best in your opinion,u can pretty much decide for yourself.
I agree, this is getting childish and immature. There is no "best" game, it all comes down to what genre you prefer.
So, every game is as good or as bad as the next? Of course not. Every person has a favorite, and most people could choose the "best" game amongst those favorites.
Kinda makes sense to me... GTA:CW stands a good chance of becoming the most popular game on the App Store, making the most money and having the biggest fanbase. In a way, those points could be used to say it's the best. Of course that doesn't affect the individual at all, just because we all own it doesn't mean we like it more than other games we own, so on a personal level you're just left asking for opinions rather than solid facts on whether or not it's the best game on the iPhone. In my opinion... yeah, it's one of my favourite iPod games, but there are a few others I like equally as much.
