Been wondering for a while now, other than The Ring, are there any other praised horror movies?
ITs been a while since REC came out but both REC and REC2 are the best horror movies Ive seen. I don't know if they were ever in American theaters but there was a remake called Quarantine (which was crap). It was also the inspiration for Paranormal Activity (which was bad as hell).

Seriously people, you have to watch them..

All horror films made in the past decade have sucked. It's all American remakes of Japanese horror films about sympathetic ghosts with weird crap going on or these crap shakeycam movies where "authenticity" means shaking the camera around wlldly while screaming like a jackass. I miss the good old 1980's slasher flicks where an evil dude would become supernatural and hunt horny teens for revenge.

I've never heard of Rec and I'll have to check it out. I recently saw the original version of Shutter and that creeped me out a little. The original Eye movie was pretty good too. Audition is another good one and that movie supposedly creeped out Rob Zombie I'm not sure what the scariest horror movie ever made is but it's definitely NOT Paranormal Activity.

[REC]= Quarantine but the only difference is Quarantine >> [REC]

I personally hated [REC] but loved Quarantine (they have the exact same story).

But, I also love Cloverfield... I'm a sucker for the shaky cam!

I've tried watching cloverfeild three times and not been able to tollerate it for more then eight minutes. Real home recorded footage does not look anywhere near that bad unless the person holding the camera is drunk, even then it's questionable.

Now i'm conflicted. For those who have seen both, should I watch Rec or Quarantine instead? Usually the original is the superior version but I'm hearing mixed things here....

There are many, many horror films that are better than REC (and Quarantine). Neither film even cracks the top 50.

a lot of people hate American remakes of Japanese horror movies..I thought the Ring was good, the Grudge was just stupid. also I don't really consider Cloverfield a horror movie..
I love all the supernatural stuff. those movies where there's just some murderer hiding in the house somewhere are boring for me

REC bored me to death. There's nothing scary about people screaming and running towards other people.

Americans will never make good horror movies, they should just stick to comedy, action or crime since those are what the typical American audience likes, and the only genres they can make proper movies out of.

The best horror film ever was The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants

It was more horrifying then Brittney Spears' Crossroads? I find that very hard to believe. If we're going by pure horror content then The Happening wins hands down.

OH GOD IT'S WIND EVERYBODY RUN FOR YOU LIVES!!!! DEADLY WIIIIIIND!!!

If Cloverfield has made you vomit, I seriously suggest you never:

    A) Ride a Rollercoaster
    B) Participate in Sexual Intercourse
    C) Run
    D) Walk from the computer to the bathroom
    E) Sneeze

Really, people who say Cloverfield are either extremely out of shape or lying.
