It's short for record, you have obviously never operated a video camera.

    It stands for RECording.

It's the little REC you see at the bottom of a video camera's screen, since the entire movie is shot in shaky-cam.

Just my two cents, Quarantine sucked. The acting was crap, the action and "horror" being people basically running from one room to another. The story wasn't anything revolutionary. I can't imagine REC being much different. The only movie that ever really creeped me out was Signs, and I was little at the time.

Funny thing is, I HAVE used a video camera. A LOT. It's just the way that it was posted, I assumed that it was an acronym for something else. I appreciate the uncalled for, whole-hearted douchebaggery though :) Thanks for that.

Ewww, shaky-cam has always seemed like such a gimmick to me. I admit that it was exciting to me when the Blair Witch Project first debuted, but afterward, it seemed like just fad that I hope will die a quick and extremely painful death.

In short, a shaky camera doesn't make a film scary, IMO. It's the story and the suspense that does it for me. And no, the 'shakier' the camera work does not equal higher suspense. Unless you're extremely easily unsettled, otherwise it's just a catchy gimmick.

Once again, you're absolutely dead-on with that statement. You know, if there is a God, he/she would most certainly be Asian.

Spamcan, please just stop. You were being a jerk, and still are for some reason. I didn't mean to offend you and if you're that insecure with yourself that you need to insult a random person on a forum for asking a simple, innocent question....well, you've got a tough road(life) ahead of you kid.

Thank you for actually answering my question without making snarky, unwarranted remarks like some other folks...

I meant no offense, is it necessary to take things so seriously? It's hard to convey the tone of a reply on the internet.

I guess not. I do agree that is very hard to convey sarcasm in the forum medium. I usually don't take things so seriously as illustrated by my first post in this thread... :p

    Truce?

    whaaa!?

Sorry to derail this thread, but goddamn! WTF did I do to any of you!? I asked a simple question, got an answer that I initially took offense to, defended myself and then tried to make peace with the original person that I took offense to once I realized he/she was kidding...

Are you being racist or some shit? Do you think people with dark colored faces are below you in society or something?

This topic has gone way off topic. The greatest horror film of all time is A Nightmere on Elm Street part III: Dream Warriors or Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn. I like my horror with a bit of comedy, the Japanese stuff is too emo for my tastes.
