my itouch( 1st gen. up-to-date software) has just started running a little slow/lags by a second or 2. inparticular during games like cod:zombies, bloodnguns, modern combat: sandstorm & bia#2. has anyone else had/have this problem? i've tried resetting but that didn't seem to help. can someone help me? thank you for any help.

How many apps / how much free space is left on your ipod?
I've heard having near full capacity can cause some slowdowns

Its probably nearing Capcity. Delete all the apps you dont use. Delete Any videos you dont watch often.

Its probably time to invest in a new ipod touch 32 or 64 gig( remember 8 gig ones have second gen hardware) there is no
lag on the games you talked about on my itouch third gen. Trust me. Its worth it.

Apple uses flash memory on all their entire iPod line (except the Classic, I think, could be wrong, though). No moving parts, the OS isn't complex enough to have substantial (if any) fragmentation, your problem does not have to do with memory reaching capacity. Your problem most likely has to do with their not being enough free memory (also known RAM). Reboot if you haven't done so lately. Also, the games you're playing are designed with the 2nd generation as the intended platform, especially since the processor is substantially improved over the 1st. No way you'll play BiA 2 without lag. That's like expecting my Nintendo 64 to run something along the lines of Super Mario Galaxy.

I have an 8gb now And I am looking to upgrade to a 32-gig 3rd gen soon. I personally don't have any need for a 64 but that just depends on how much music/videos /apps you have. Also, we are getting close to due for an iphone upgrade and apple always releases new models of itouch's sometime in september.

I have a 32 gig one. Ive had it for a while and its not even half full yet. Save your money and get a 32 gig. You probably wont get near to filling it up.

It's probably because those new games take a lot more power to process in the 1st Generation iPod Touch, after all, the 3rd Generation is way faster and smoother.
