Speaking of servers and whatnot... Will this use iCloud or anything to sync progress across devices like True Skate?

I've been checking for JCS2 weekly for over a year lol! Can't wait! Too bad JCS1 is so outdated... Had a lot of fun with it back in the day.

I think we might have that working already, but I haven't actually tested it my self.

It was really hard to get True Skate to sync the True Credits properly, JCS2 is super easy in comparison.

I don't think we sync user levels through iCloud though, you need to upload them to our server for that.

    Menu

Are you going to add a hidden menu like in the first jet car stunts? If I remeber correctly you had to touch all corners of the screen in a certain way to bring a menu to change your car color to yellow or green and unlock all levels. :3

We've been talking about some features that might be good for a hidden menu, but I don't think we will be doing anything like that for launch.

We already have 120 levels, many of them with different geometry for hard mode, and 7 cars, and 4 game modes, plus a super easy to use simple level creater.

I don't think you will be short on content.

We are still play testing the platforming levels and tweaking them for clarity.

In Jet Car Stunts 2 platforming you can play these levels on:

    1. Easy - like casual on the original game where the fuel gauge gets replenished and you can complete on any number of retries, plus collision is off on the hoops.

    2. Medium - like the original where the fuel gauge gets replenished at the check points and you have to complete in 10 retries or less

    3. Hard - like 2 but with bigger jumps and such in the level layout.

There are 75 levels in total and I'm up to 48 on the medium mode... Luke is been insane and is testing on hard.

When you get through levels called "Downward Spiral" and "The Grinder" you wonder what is up ahead in the later levels. For testing purposes I've stayed well away from level construction so that I can play with no knowledge of the levels so that we get a good idea of how hard the game is.

Each different vehicle gives a different slant on the levels. My favourite levels and vehicle type is the Monster Truck - it's rather hungry on fuel - and makes some interesting fuel conservation tactics. All the levels will keep players busy for months.

And that is only one game mode. There is:

    1. Platforming
    2. Time Trials
    3. Freestyle
    4. Racing

Plus the level editor and user levels. This game has months and months worth of content.

While testing I've been angry, frustrated, and swearing a lot ;) But when you hit that last checkpoint the rush you get is addictive!

Awesome to hear that this game is almost completely finished! Crazy to think that I've been following it for years.

Anyways, what are the chances of it coming out this month? Or are you guys leaning towards a January release?

We are aiming for a January release but finish off before xmas. Over the holidays will be fixing any bugs that come up and maybe add some extra bits to it. We are basically at the last stages of development :)

Theoretically we could release in December, but the app store is too crowded, we really needed to be ready a bit earlier to do that.

Anyway, the levels could do with more final tweaks, and the difficulty is a bit over the top in a frustrating way in a few places. It takes for ever to get through 75 platforming levels with 3 difficulties each though.

In freestyle you do tricks for points.

There is a freestyle mode in JCS WP. Somebody did a video review. The freestyle mode is at 3:30

It will be pretty much the same in JCS2 except completely different levels. The JCS2 freestyle levels are all more open then the one in that vid but they use the same car.

We are pretty much in a good position with the game now. Barring one missing bit of code that relies on the levels been finalised I would say we are at Beta now :)

There's plenty of bugs to fix but by the end of the year Jet Car Stunts 2 will be ready for a January release :)

We would of liked to release before Xmas but the server testing on Android True Skate sucked a load of time away.

Anyway, the extra time over the holiday's will mean we can still test for any unknown bugs that may arise.

I've gone through all the levels on Medium setting just to make sure that the levels can be completed with the fuel limits between checkpoints and to spot any unclear areas of the levels.

Luke has been doing more or less the same things for the Hard setting, as well as going into the level editor to fix the problems with the tracks. He mentioned that he is a lot more happy with them now.

James has been busy fixing various bugs and finalising the server side of things.

The last two months we have all been working flat out doing stupid hours - so much has been done in that time... two months ago the game looked half finished and now barring bugs and a few things to do, it's starting to look like Jet Car Stunts 2 will definitely, soon be here!

    What's "Dynamic cube mapping"?
Could you post screenshots of what the game looks like with and without it?
    ---

Also do you have plans to release JCS2 on PC eventually? Going to love it on my iPhone, but I imagine it would look and run even better on a nice HD screen

Dynamic cube mapping is basically the reflections in the car are from the level. We render six low resolution passes of the level onto a texture cube map and this six sided view of the level gets mapped onto the car to form reflections around the car from all views of the level.

The older hardware bypasses the creation of the cube map and instead uses the skybox, thus saving doing 6 renders of the level in a cube map.

I'm afraid it's not up to me to give the other information you are asking, that's up to Luke. But I would say materials for the press and marketing will be released soon. Again that is up to Luke to decide when that happens.

Will freestyle mode make it into JCS1 or is it purely a windows phone exclusive?
