What did everybody think of that? Do you think places like Seaworld should even exist? I'm kind of curious about it. I for one think it's kind of cruel to keep an animal caged up like that. I'd probably be pretty pissed too if I were that whale.

The whale killed like 3 other people before her.
I really don't agree with it being held in captivity. Of course it's going to be pissed if it is held in a tiny tank with no company, I don't blame it for killing her. And I would encourage it to kill again until they decide to release it back into the wild.

Why can't they just stick to boat tours to see whales? The only reason these whales are held in captivity is due to the fact that some humans are fat, lazy and ignorant.

  4. Yup. We're abusing animals for entertainment. I think zoos etc. are OK as long as animals are kept well and in giant cages. But, especially sea animals, often have tiny cages...
I also agree with what you've said.

    Hey danny, epic picture ;)

I agree with the zoo statement. Ever read life of Pi? The intro talks about the zoo and keeping animals in captivity, and while I can't recall exactly what it said, it had to do with animals having their own territory, not having to venture out of it for food, and them being relatively content.

Marine creatures are a bit different, though. Since everything is moving at a larger and more constant scale, it's less about territory and more about moving around and finding food. Killer Whales cover hundreds of miles per day. At Sea World, Orlando, they had 5 in a tank roughly the size of an Olympic pool, just deeper. It was depressing.
