I would like to read an analysis from the developers about the success of doing the sale.

One day later and we made more with the app at .99c

Not much more, but more - plus we went from uncharted in the US to number 86 in games.

Nah... I found out there was a facebook group of iOS users in my area and none of them had any price-trackers.

The way i found them was when i posted a couple games that went free and this one friend of a friend invited and PM'd me with "how'd you know it was going free?"

The TA community is a very small percentage of all iOS users, and not even all TA members (mostly the not-so-regular users) have any price tracking apps.

Oh... and you probably shouldve heard of apps that go FREEMIUM because they earn more from IAPs than from game purchases as downloading games for free distributes it faster therefore increasing the number of IAP buyers.

Is this game better than Bastion?

    that's a BIG no...

especially with the crazy poor pathfinding and other issues with the controls...

A price drop raises awareness of games to casual gamers. More sales equates to a higher ranking in the AppStore and the potential for Apple to put it in their Editor's Choice section, their New and Noteworthy section, etc. And if these things happen, the result can at times be amazing for a developer. Sometimes these guys just need their game to get noticed, not not necessarily noticed here on TA, but noticed in the AppStore. If that happens, and 5 star reviews start pouring in, sales can rise exponentially and the rest can be history.

As for price-tracking apps, Apple just removed them from the AppStore. Sites like AppShopper do a good job, but the average person puts a game on their wishlist. They don't go to a third-party site to track apps. It's too much work.

I honestly don't know anyone (outside of the internet) who tracks this crap. Because in real life, $3 barely gets you a cup of coffee anymore so who cares? Is saving $3 a month worth all the time and effort? Nope.

Great news. I don't have an iPad yet so I didn't pick this game up, but I like the look of it and am glad that the sale resulted in getting your game on the charts. Baby steps . . .

I am so up for that! :D
Edit: I need to earn that title, though! (Buying indie games at full price. Lol)

  12. Well, just for this comment, I am going to make the effort out to delete and load this today and see for myself how it compares to Bastion and how well the controls work. Will post a little later today, after I figure out what to delete. Guess one of the Angry Birds will have to go...

Ku is much different from bastion... I'm not sure the comparison even makes sense, despite a very remote graphical resemblance.

Loved both games for different reasons :)

    ^This sums it up.
You win some, you lose some. Sometimes you save. Sometimes other people save. If the game is good enough that you don't want to wait for a sale, pay up. If a dollar or three is worth that much to you, wait.

  15. Yeah, I agree, other than the controls, the games are not really very close. I like Bastion much better, but this game is decent too. Definitely worth it's sale price.

Appshopper was removed. AFAIK, that was the only one removed. It looked too much like the offical app store, I guess. Well, the 5.0 appstore.

I watched the video (haven't booted up the game yet) and while fast forwarding, came across a scene with some background music playing that had a synthesizer track. I swear it was the same synth, or an emulation of one, that's used extensively in The Who's Quadrophenia. If the devs are still around, could ya ask the guy who composed the score, and what brand/model synth that is?

...or if anyone else can confirm it's the same synth or not...it's just been bugging me.

Do you know what point in the vid (and which vid it is) so I can ask our sound dude? He'll prob have to ask the musician who made it then, so the answer may take a little while lol :)

Yeah, I think it starts around 7:30 to 8:00 into the 30+ minute video, and really picks up by the 9:00-9:30 mark, when the protaganist appears before a council (or that's what it looks like). I think Pete Townsend used an ARP 2500 (a gigantic device; obviously your musician didn't use that actual hardware) combined with violin.

I'm stuck at the wolf's cave. I found the antlers, the owl and the fish; not sure if there are any other items to find and where to "put them together" like the hint says. Tried to place them in the center of the triangle made by the wolf heads, won't work. Help? :)
