I think it's easy to put the discussion of IAP in perspective when a developer puts one hundred dollar consumable IAP in their game, but can't give the option for a Premium unlock.
No, you can leave. I am sucked back here if I escape. My belief that IAP are the worst thing to happen to games ever keeps me here. You may find me roaming freely about and not talking of IAP, but if I do happen to, the forces and powers that be will pull me back.
I agree very much with your take on IAP. If those powerful forces continue to direct your will back here may I suggest an extended escape from your compulsions to the rural remote areas of Spain where very few people live and no cars can be heard. Where your mind can relax and your thoughts are your thoughts and best of all no wifi therefore no need to check your iDevice or this thread.......
Yeah, not happening. Maybe if I go and dump about three hundred dollars of consumables into every Freemium and Paidmium title I can find I'll be able to sleep again.
Now you're talking! You've seen the light! You're stepping in line! Congratulations you're an official cog in the mighty wheel Spend that cash it's good for your soul REM sleep is coming your way!
It only goes away when I play games with no IAP. Then it comes back when I remember that these games are few and far between, as are my experiences with full immersion and no solicitation. And yeah, I basically haven't slept for weeks. So no, that issue doesn't seem to be resolving either.
I remember not being especially pleased when the first Bug Heroes went freemium, probably because it was one of the first cases I can remember of a paid game going freemium (that thread led to my one time-out from TA. Lol) But I do have to say that overall, they have been pretty good about IAPs and give a tremendous amount of content in their games. So they've earned back my respect. Their paidmium games are on the good side of the spectrum.
I'm suing Apple for IAP-induced insomnia. It seems like the steam has left the thread. Does anyone else want to try to justify IAP, or have I won you all over with my charm?
I'm much more concerned about helping other fellow members who love iOS gaming enough to allow themselves to indulge in a lesser gaming experience due to IAP without at the very least questioning it, or more importantly, justifying the presence of IAP as not affecting this experience, whether they can detect it or not.
