Can't speak for smaller devices, but have really enjoyed it. No regrets paying full price. Great tracks to pump you up for the mode, with missions and side missions mid game. If your on the fence, its time to hop over!

I would say no. Emphatically no. In fact, I wish there was a way to save between missions in a level.
+ About ten That is the only thing that's annoying me so far. I would say I have slightly below average shoot em up skills so I die quite often.....
Highly recommended. How i wish Zone of the Enders 1&2 got ported to iOS. That woulda been suh-weeeet!
ZotE on ios would be an instant purchase. Still, Liberation Maiden does a great job scratching that itch. I've beaten it several times since I bought it last time it was on sale and it easily gets my recommendation. Nicely on my 4S it takes only 226MB installed, so I've had no problem keeping it around. No this isn't a game you play while you only have a few seconds, rather its one that you get comfortable with while wearing headphones and it reminds you that your ios device is a console as much as it is a casual game toy.
