Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any advice for marketing as a first time indie developer. I'm a part of a small company made up of students from Georgia Tech, and we just released our first game last week. We don't know much about the marketing side of things and so I was wondering if anyone had any tips. Right now we have a website, twitter and facebook pages, a youtube video, and a TA forum post. We're going to be a part of a "free app a day" program, get some reviews from a few sites, and have spent some money on advertising in different places, but I was curious to see if anyone had any insight about something they did that really jumpstarted their game. Thanks!
Marketing is about letting the world know about your product... and you come here, post a thread about marketing and don't even show us what is your game Please post link to all the things you listed here, add a link in your sig too. At least, this will help knowing what is the game you are talking about. JC
Thanks for the response! I wasn't looking to market my game through this developer discussion forum, but rather just get some general advice. Nevertheless, I'm glad to do it if you think it will help! Our game is a path puzzle game called Daddy's Dojo. Here are the links to everything we have as of right now: - App Store description - TA Forum post (includes youtube demo video) - Facebook - Twitter - Daddy's Dojo website I hope this helps!
There's an article here about marketing with a very small budget http://www.crawlspacegames.com/blog/marketing-your-app-on-a-shoestring-budget/
