I don't know if it's temporary or permanent. At the App Store, in the section labeled 'What's new' dated May 2nd, 2014, the developer wrote: "Updated to be universal" and "Included in-app ads." I played it for a while this morning and have not seen any ads yet. My take on the game: frustrating but Fun. I guess they weren't fully implemented or it'll take a few days for them to kick in. Whatever the case this is a pretty solid maze game with a variety of maze styles.
