I suspect the Claw Unit will still be great, in that its moveset doesn't appear to've changed. I've not had time to test it online, though.

I would, if I could figure out how. chigga64 put an explanation here, but what I don't get is how to have the Patrol Robot deal a single shot which hits no enemy soldiers, just the base.

I'll try it later in the day, anyway.

Ooh, you're right, you can now see your previous ranks there now!

Leona makes it really easy to get S-ranks, by the way. I sent one (one!) out against today's boss (the big alien things) and she won the whole mission without having to send any other units.

Looks like the customization screen crash is occurring for the people who bought all the units. Maybe the game can't load that many things on the screen at once?

Yes on my friend's Android device it just takes several hundred MBs of ram and the game crashed

For me, most of the units are still in the shop. I only have about ~<150mb of RAM free on my phone before launching the game (a Huawei Y300 with a humble 386mb RAM total), and although opening the shop view takes a few seconds, it certainly doesn't crash it out.

Though how much RAM the phone can assign and how much the game can assign may not add up to the same figures...

What is the best one-two punch in the game? In other words, what two units compliment each other and work in unison the best?

I very much like pairing the Claw Unit with Ralf. Morden Robots do fairly well with Donkey Carts, and can defend for or group behind pretty much whatever you want for decent effects. Patrol Robots, Utans, Leonas...

What works "best" depends on exactly what's being thrown at you.

Ok, tried it out, and I'm guessing the damage has gone up by about 20% since being documented in the wiki (dunno which version they're referring to there).

A lvl20 Patrol Robot now one-shots the base on 1-1 with a standard attack, whereas the wiki indicates it previously only "mostly" destroyed it. The wiki doesn't show a damage reading for a standard attack on 1-4, but currently it does about 40% damage:

With the special attack on 1-4, it's gone from about the ~45% shown on the wiki, to about 60%:

Health and production/movement speed appear to be the same as before.

    Edit:

It is probable the Chinese images refer to 1.6.0 (the version which released the Patrol Robot). Since then, we've had 1.8.0 give us world 3, along with more prisoners of war with which to raise our damage output across the board.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Patrol Robot's attack power wasn't changed by 1.10.0. To test it properly, you'd really want someone with some older APK versions and a heck of a lot of free time.

It's also possible the Chinese images were made within a game with no POWs freed at all.

I never really gave Ralf a chance. He wasn't that useful when I used him back when the game first came out. His range of attack is too short. I'll try and use him again. I think Claw and Utan work well together.

Ralf's trick is his special - it lets him dodge attacks in front of him (up to and including a MSA), and can out-right destroy quite a few types of enemy. After doing that, if he managed to knock the opponent's front line back he'll probably fire his flamethrower (a single shot of which will then proceed to kill large clusters of Utans/Martians/whatever).

You can put out just about anything alongside a Claw and it'll do well (unless you're up against someone who also has a Claw - and they seem to be popular for some reason). Though, Ralf+Claw typically annihilates Utan+Claw.

Come to think of it, I reckon Patrol Robot+Claw is probably a better bet again. Though one thing I've learned is that combos of as many unit types as possible are far better than combos of just two.

What Ralf is bad at is facing too many attacks at once. Using his special to ram him into an enemy front line guarded by a cluster of Patrol Robots, for example, will probably see him die immediately afterwards. If your opponent lasts till mid-round, he starts to turn into a dead slot. Take advantage of his early destruction to prop up your AP production.

Speaking as one who hasn't used him outside of Mission mode, Utan's range makes him great against decks that can't hit him. Even if he does get hit (which will likely kill him - he's got all the toughness of a wet tissue), his production is fast enough that it's easy to get another swarm out again.

However, if your opponent has a way to kill your squishy group whenever they like (eg with Ralf or Clone Fio), pumping out Utans will only feed their AP production. In these cases, aim to hold off on fielding Utan until you're pretty sure your front line can't be breached.

Question about iOS version. if I reset the iPhone and re-install Metal Slug Defense, game progress and the purchase will remain in the game?

According to this, you'll lose all data related to the game if you do that.

    hmmmmm....Morden & JKing I suppose? :p

Frankly speaking, a 2-units strategy only works at the very early stage. We always refer to groups of 3-8 for a overall strategy.

Still I would nominate Leona+Rider. They together can give very hard pressure to opponents before the first MSA. Just need to time special carefully as you need enemy's Claw down before rider burst off rolling

So SNK postet about some issues, that appear in the area clear rank reward system and that they will be fixed in the next update.
Some of the comments under their post say, that some people are getting easy medals because of the issues.

Does anybody know more about that?

Oh and they also postet, what units they nerfed and buffed.
    Thats copied from it:

One person said people are getting easy medals - but they didn't say it was because of this update's issues. Odds are they're referring to a game editing tool some people are apparently using to cheat medals into their save games.

The only medal issue I'm aware of is the one that stops you from getting 18 of the things by getting S-ranks (hardly the end of the world, you wouldn't get them in 1.9.0 anyways...).

It's kinda surprising that the Patrol Robot got buffed in as many areas as it did. Are they trying to make it as annoying as it was in the original games?

I suppose at this point we've been bombarded with enough free medals that anyone who cares should have one of their own by now.

I'd missed the fact that there's another five missions in Mission mode. Guess I'll nip through those tomorrow, I assume that's another 15 medals right there.

They should add the gun camera next.

I wonder if buffs to mummies are an attempt to make them viable for mp?

If so, the should buff the Bradley.

Also I noticed that te samurai warriors hold up dynamite when they die now. Was that always there?

Can you show me the SNK link to this changelog info..?

Depends on how they die. If they are flamed or blasted with hi-techexplosive they don't get enough time to deploy grenades - usually only suicide themselves when they are shot

I guess now is a better time than ever for me to get the Patrol Robot, I'm even more glad I bought the Protogunner now too with that unexpected buff.

As the new version is working on Bluestacks, I think the crashing problem lies on out of graphic memory

Hi guys, as it seems that many of the audience in this thread are now interested to make reference to the Chinese forum, I have just sent a message to the author of that MSD Wiki to seek for clarifications and pending their reply. However, the author does tell me that the attack power stats for all the units from v 1.7.0 onward are taken under the setting of Level 25 and Captives in all 3 worlds released.

Will keep you posted on the the setting in getting stats for pre-v1.7.0 units including Patrol Bots.

BTW, I have told them that you guys are appreciative of their efforts and they said if needed, they can translate some of the useful threads (including the MSD Wiki page) into English, subject to their availability.

Quick question for the experts here:

Has anyone come across a glitch or hack that awards a defeated MP opponent the victory (+1) after the match? It's happening frequently enough that I started taking screenshots. I'll post them if someone demands proof or to prove I'm not crazy, but I wanted to see how common this was. Kind of a bummer - I've given up on my win/loss ratio in favor of having fun by deploying novelty decks (currently rocking an all zombie & robot deck which is loads of fun, win or lose).
