I like that idea...the double tapping on screen is just not working for me, making use of existing buttons would be much better.
Thanks for the video, now i can do it!!!! Didnt use the gravity gun much really just played the game as a straight shooter
I also like the button change option suggestion. I like the shake to bomb, but it seems like sometimes when I double tap I cause the bomb to fire...perhaps I just need to relax and not tap so hard
Ok here are my pre purchase thoughts out loud... I have Isotope, cs.one, Cataica, NanoFighter, Shockwave and 2079 on my device right now. There is no doubt that this is a good game, is it going to be the best of all of them?
It is the best portable shooter there is on any handheld (mainly because PSP and DS shooters fail because of controls), and you would be insane not to get it.
Cs.one by far disappointed me. Nano Fighter is intense. 2079 was... ok. I'm not familiar with the other two. And I play a lot of these games. But yeah, Meteor Blitz beats them by far at the moment.
yeah, i was going to say if you liked the intensity of the action in Nano Fighter then this is similar with enemies actively chasing you...and stuff will drop right on top of you like in shockwave/asteroid bbq so you must be constantly on the move...then you will likely love Meteor Blitz I have cs.one but not the others you listed and the rhthym in cs.one is different from MB so it does not seem as comparable to me
I've tried all of those except Cataica, but I'll add GeoFighter, Occurro, Pew Pew, and Anomaly to the list of dual stick shooters I've tried. IMO this is the best one out of all of them. The one game that gives it the most competition is Isotope. The controls feel like Nano's for me, so if you like the controls on that one, you'll like these I believe. I do like Super Stardust Portable more than this game though, but that's for the PSP and it costs more than 1.99. Haven't played Super Stardust HD yet.
Buyed it 20 minutes ago because was frustrated about non-availability of Dungeon Hunter, played 5 minutes so far, tutorial and first worldmap. Seriously... This is BEST implementation of digital "analog stick" implementation I've ever have seen yet, it works just PERFECTLY!! All shooter develpoers should license the control quellcode of this game, just wonderful
How does Meteor Blitz compare to Super Stardust HD? I've yet to play the latter, but it looks amazing.
In a nutshell, if you love SS HD, you'll love Meteor Blitz. I have both and IMHO MB is almost as good as SS HD, which is some achievement given you are comparing an iPhone game to a PS3 game. They are very similar - it may as well have been called iStardust The main difference that I can see is that the enemies are smaller (fair enough given the format), and the bosses are a little disappointing (i.e. a little shape not much bigger than the enemies, that you have to hit more times, that doesn't change from level to level). I'm having a little problem with firing a bomb on MB but hopefully that's something I'll get used to. The live global ranking update on MB as you play is awesome, and adds more excitement to the game. Definitely worth buying!
I agree, the only downsides are the lack of menu music, and the bosses are actually the least cool things you fight =P
Hey everyone, Wanted to let you know that over at the TA Contests board, there is a new posting explaining a contest and with promo code prizes for Meteor Blitz! Check it out! http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=504041#post504041
Well bought the game and Im really like it from what little I've played, it controls really nice and smooth, looks fantastic and runs smoothly and there seems to be a good amount of depth to the game as well. My only grip with the game is the the screen just feels to small for whats going on in the game and Im usually shooting stuff off the screen or at the edge and it feels like Im missing alot of the action just seems like there needs to be more room from top to bottom but thats just the limitations of the device I guess sadly not really the designs fault. I guess you could zoom out more but that would take away from the nice visuals. Anyway definitely worth 2 bucks!
Well, I now have to chime in with how impressed I am with this game. The amount of polish in this game is incredible. The controls are fantastic, the game runs super smooth on my 1st Gen touch... The best part is the real-time ranking which is just incredible. Adds such a level of intensity as you see your ranking improving without wondering and having to wait until the game is finished. This makes me think that every game out there should have this. I feel like there was no holding back on this labour of love... Honestly, this has to be the best dual stick shooter out there right now in my opinion. Only gripe is I wish there was enough room to enter my full name Mr. Charley, rather than abbreviating it to MrCharly....but I can live with that as a trade off for the amount of fun and polish this game brings!
that's my only beef with this game so far also, i want to put my entire nick in. i hate when games make me shorten my name for whatever reason. and yeah, this is no doubt the best dual stick shooter on the iphone. the devs should feel more confident about it and make a franchise out of it with new content and purchasable levels and/or weapons. i'll buy anything they add to this
Hi everyone, I'm about to finish up our first update. It's only going to be some minor bug fixes and cosmetic touches, no major changes. I'll definitely increase the number of allowable characters in the high scores. I had a quick question about the live in-game rankings: would you prefer that it said "Global Rank 1234" (as it does now), or "Rank 1234/12345" (displaying your rank out of all ranks)? I'm not sure adding the lowest possible ranking would be useful info, or if removing the word "Global" might make it confusing for new players.
