First of all thanks Gekkota for clearing all that up for him while I was gone . Secondly, "Maybe you should grow up and learn to give forgiveness". Wow, this isn't some party on a boat where someone just did something stupid. What he did was 100% morally wrong, and he knew it WHILE doing it, dont tell me he didn't. So what part of that deserves forgiveness? He isn't some kid who doesn't know what hes doing, I think he understands consequences for the actions he has, but to do something so stupid, he doesn't deserve a second chance. Thats like taking a murderer and signing him to a 10 million dollar contract and everything being ok, its not, and just because you might not thing what he did was wrong, or even if he feels sorry for what he did(which I know he doesn't because he wouldn't have done it in the first place) you know he did something wrong, and so do all of us. He should still be in jail, and there is nothing you can say that will make me change my mind. Oh and by the way, your two examples have absolutely no relevance to each other
Seriously? Dude, please check yourself (indeed, before you wreck yourself) before you jump into the argument. Comparing partying on a boat, cheating, or taking performance-enhancing drugs to torturing and slaughtering dogs in sadistic ways for fun and profit by a remoreseless prick who is only sorry he got caught really displays a profound level of ignorance. If you're going to compare what Vick did to something, at least try and make sure the comparison is A) of similar or greater severity, and B) actually illegal. I'm glad to hear this decision is raising a lot of hackles in Philly. It should! It should impact the team's bottom line to such a degree that The Linc is half empty during home games and they realize Vick is stadium poison and publicly dumps his ass on the sidelines with only his jersey and some bus fare just to save some face.
He's a sick sadistic bastard whom I don't care to watch play ball, simple as that... If other people do, great for them, I just won't, and I'm super glad he's not going to my team.
You keep making the same points over and over and over, just changing the wording a little bit, as if that's going to convince anyone! It should be clear to you by now that very few people in this thread agree with you. Maybe you should just put your tail between your legs and scamper back on over to your friends in the Minigore thread!
Do you want him to be paralyzed or something? Dog fighting is horrible, but you wanting to see him get hurt is also not cool. Don't flame me. I also think that vick did wrong. NBA, NFL, are jokes? Isnt that a liitttle harsh? If you check out the NBA website, you'll see something called NBA cares, or something like that. It's about helping kids with education, baskeball, the community, etc. And the best thing is that the players are Involved. I know you're angry about the whole vick thing, butsaying that they are jokes? I'm not sure. Aannd, I know plenty of people wanting to go into sports when they are older. I guess they're going into some joke society?
Don't want to see him paralyzed. Don't want to see him playing in the NFL. Don't want to see him in a Humane Society PSA pretending to be sorry about his "mistake." And I think that most people are repulsed, and don't want to see him either. Anywhere.
Do you just respond as a reflex or do you bother reading the posts? If there is no other apparent relevance to mentioning those scandals, then people assume you are drawing a comparison because there's no other apparent reason for you mentioning them. I presume you're not on anyone's debate team... Once again, however, you ask the reader to draw a comparison between illegal steroid use and what Vick did. This is a false analogy fallacy. Wait ... what? OJ was acquitted. Granted, most of us still think he's guilty as sin, but the evidence was insufficient for a criminal conviction, so he was sued in a civil wrongful death beef and lost, although that still doesn't conclusively prove anything. Perhaps you aren't old enough to remember the stink that was raised over his acquittal? It was worse than Vick's will ever get. People are still sore over it and feel that he got off with barely a slap on the wrist. Vick, however, was found guilty beyond all measure of doubt. The evidence was overwhelming. His position was indefensible. But he lied through his teeth throughout his allocution, and got off light as a result, even got his old job back (albeit on a different team) making millions. That is what this debate is all about. Do try and keep up. Hence this debate. Most feel he did not do sufficient time to satisfy the demands of justice, nor did he do anything to redeem himself in any way. Working with PETA? Politics and PR, pure and unvarnished, not because he wanted to -- although I might argue that this is its own brand of punishment. Working with those nutjobs has to make you want to scratch your brain out. Not all, and not often. Life in prison doesn't always or often mean spending the rest of your actual life there. Life is usually defined as a maximum 40 years with the potential for early release on good behaviour and demonstration of remorse and rehabilitation. Once again, false analogy. And now that he's got his high paying job back, that bankruptcy filing ends up nothing more than a temporary inconvenience he'll be able to shrug off after his first paycheque.
I used to enjoy watching the NFL ... now I will not ..... no more NFL for me .... I cannot and will not support the sponsors of the NFL .... simple.
There are tax incentives to participating in those "charities" for both the NBA and the player. Oh and yeah, compared to other more relevent professions, I think that it IS in fact a joke, the amount of money and reverance is put on these ENTERTAINERS. Shit I play a good game of scrabble, I should have press conferences and millions of dollars. Here's an idea! Why don't we give a multi million dollar contract to the next person to win the Nobel prize. What do think? No?
