It's one thing to take the moral high ground but clearly you don't have a freaking clue what your talking about. "Theves" do indeed have rights, to suggest otherwise is asinine to say the least. Everyone has rights, they don't get taken away from you for breaking the law. If that weren't the case we'd just cut peoples hands off for stealing like a bunch of backwards barbarians. Get off your high horse and think about what you're saying. CDMA is the network Verizon uses, if you're on any other carrier it's GSM and you don't have to worry about it. You can patch the hole behind you after jailbreaking on 4.3.3 so this is a non-issue.
LOL! You really just don't have the slightest idea of what you're talking about here, do you? Hint: record companies love radio. They send truckloads of free stuff to radio stations, hoping some of it will get played. Airplay leads to increased sales. Not only has radio never "stolen" anything what a bizarre concept it's also a known fact to anyone over the age of 7 that radio is not illegal. If anything, it's too legal i.e., there's too much government oversight. Seriously, you might want to have just a tiny understanding about the way something works before spouting off about it. It's even dumber to take it literally.
Wow ... that is so not what "pirate radio" means. It's almost ridiculous how wrong this is. It has zero to do with record companies, for starters. Absolutely nothing. The term essentially means "unlicensed" or "unregulated." A radio station or maybe just a guy with a really powerful transmitter operating without a proper license for whatever country they're in, in other words. It's a government issue, not an issue of commerce.
You honestly didn't understand what I said at all. They love the radio now, but when it first came out they tried to shut it down because they would take their music and play it without giving any profit back to the record companies. I know the radio isn't illegal or stolen anything. Thats not what I said whatsoever. I think I have more understanding about piracy then you seem to. Please re-read my post. Thats not what pirate radio means now, but thats what they first called it if memory serves. I'll find a source. Cop out.
Wonder, how much pirates are really here, posting around. But all you piracy defenders (and no, no, no, of course your device isn't jailbroken): you can't justify piracy. Not possible. Never, because it is illegal. I just wonder what you can't understand about these simple facts.
If you express yourself in any other section other than the jailbreakig section, you'll probably get some hate. Like IMNS, since we are apart of an iOS website, we're obviously very strict about anyone pirating iOS apps.
Did apple or anyone else promise them (or advertise in their country) that there will be apps available for them to download? Or Is it legal to download pirated software in their country? Were they too dumb to not know appstore wasnt available in their country before shelling out 100s of dollars on an iDevice? Stop making excuses. And its so g-damn freakin easy to make a US itunes account and buy gift cards from ebay. Maybe they are too dumb to figure out something this simple so help em out next time you see anyone making this excuse. I can assure you not even a single one of them will do it. Lemme know how many you were able to convert! Yes. Pirates arent welcome here no matter what their reason is. If you really want to buy apps, I'm sure you are smart enough to figure out US iTunes account. If you arent, then... what can I say! those who cant behave maturely do get banned no matter if they pirated something or not. We dont value their opinions either. Where's the confusion here? Did you ever check out the TA forum rules btw? here's something that might help... lemme know if the answer to your question is still unclear to you!
First, jailbreaking does not equal piracy. Both my 3GS and iPad are jailbroken and all 900+ apps I've downloaded are legal. Second, you might not like piracy but you have to admit you've benefited from it even if you've never done it. The ability to rip and share music in the late '90s created the hardware MP3 player industry. Music piracy created the market for the early products and I seriously doubt more then a handful of people that purchased the original iPod (my third hardware MP3 player) had 5GB of legally obtained MP3 files at the time. No Rio PMP or Creative Nomad means no iPod, no iPod means no iPhone. Piracy has been one of the major driving forces for companies to begrudgingly move from physical media to cheaper download and streaming services. It's not a justification but that doesn't change the facts.
Wow. I'm speechless! Why not throw in the invention of electricity as a result of piracy when you're at it!
Have you ever seen the EULA on a wax cylinder? Do you honestly believe the MP3 format or MP3 players would have caught on if not for piracy? Why aren't we all using minidisc players and ATRAC? Do you honestly believe iTunes would exist if not for Napster? Know anyone, anyone at all, that owned an MP3 player before the iPod that wasn't a pirate? Would the PS3 and 360 support so many video formats if not for XBMC and do you think XBMC would've existed if not for video piracy? Would there be a market for cheap video players that can play every format under the sun including MKV if not for piracy? Again, it's not a justification but to ignore the fact that piracy has a significant impact on the direction of the technology we use is silly.
Stop it already. You're trying to imply that nothing in music industry would have changed if there was no piracy. Piracy has been common place in last 2 decades only. Just go and see what people had to use for their music 50 years ago. if your theory is anywhere close to reality, how and why the hell in this world did anyone bother to invent cassette players? Were people somehow pirating those gramophone discs which forced the music industry to try something new?
That's not what I'm implying at all, technology wouldn't have stopped it just wouldn't have gone in the direction it has. Digital music would've taken longer to catch on and it would've been a format far more locked down like ATRAC. Also, you're totally wrong about piracy only being commonplace for two decades. Are you familiar with the phrase "home taping is killing music"? How about the lawsuits concerning the concept for VCR dubbing? That's farther back then 20 years ago. All that's left of some early episodes of Doctor Who are home rechordings people made if the soundtracks since VCRs weren't available and that was half a century ago! http://gizmodo.com/5691604/how-ma-bell-shelved-the-future-for-60-years
Like many others say, there will always be pirate and like gangs, you cant eliminate piracy but you can decrease it. I know a friend who pirate games and i tell him not to but he still do it. I, myself buy games with my beta testing money i get for beta testing. Trying to decrease the problem is the key, not trying to eliminate it.
This picture only shows how ignorant pirates are. As a matter of fact, you can call it as you want. If you either take it away or make a copy of it, it is both theft. But it's natural to use this deeply flawed logic; people like to silence their consciences. And some of those pirates are making thousands if bucks when you download games, which they stole and made available over the internet. You are supporting them to continue with their antisocial behaviour.
