Yeah Namco did a terrible job with Eliminate .

But Hero of Sparta was way overhyped for me.

Debbie did it here in '78

    FYI,

It is ngmoco that did eliminate not Namco. Make sure you slap the right person.

    His name is DGH94 ;)

Either that or it's the catchy theme song...

EDIT: wootbean totally beat me to it! Oh well, the sheer power DGH94 wields championing for AG warrants the double post...

Interesting thread...the primary smokescreen I've learn to see through is a thread is hyped based on how many posts in a given thread. If you make a quick snapshot of users posting counts in said thread you'll quickly realize it's just a few users posting an insane amounts of times. If that's the case I quickly ignore the game.

From a devs standpoint they sell the most in the first week or two so the initial hype is crucial. But from a consumer standpoint it's best to just add those games to your watch list.

Another thing I'm getting better at is initial sales lowpoints with a threat to increase price later. Any game that says $1 first week then shoots up to $5 later I don't care how good it is. From that point I can't recommend to my friends. Hey check out this game which is a good value at $1 but kinda questionable value at $5 so no matter how much I like the game I won't recommend it.

I don't really bother rating crap games anymore or even posting in threads doesn't matter if I bought it (was duped), received promo or tried demo version. Any publicity negative or good is just more advertisement for crap hyped game.

The only game to me that has lived up to the hype was NFSU and I did pay the full $10 which was ironic as I remember explicity saying I'd never spend $6 or more on a game. Of course it dropped to $5 so yea guess I could've wait a couple months which I plan on doing with Asphalt 5 ...I can wait 3 to 6 months or so I have plenty of games to play with in the meantime.

Minigore and Warpackgrunts. The other one that sucked was a mmo add me code game that was advertised as a action game with a nice trailer and so forth. Sucked so much name doesn't even get rembered.

I wouldn't say there is a lot of hype (except for DGH), but it's a fun little game, and the update is going to make it better.

I, as a creator of Aqua Globs, need to say that I don't see any hype around our game either. Am I missing something? :)
