Go with the Mac, and save yourself the trouble. Dell's are nothing but trash. Join the Apple revolution.

I've had an HP for 5 years and it's still reliable. Slower than it used to be but everything works.

I'm forced to use Windows at School. Even when we have Mac computers. School says that you can only do "so & so" on a Windows. It makes me sick.

That might almost be a joke if it was true. Yeah it gets a little hot, but mine has a max temp of around 110 and it's never been anywhere near the mark.

Edit: by max temp I obviously meant it's limit of safe operation.

Get an Asus, it's almost as good as my iMac and it can play games too!

I have used both PCs and Macs for a long time now and I can probably help you make an educated decision.

First off one thing you didn't even mention or something I have yet to see in the thread is what you plan on using it for. Are you planning on using it to game, are you using it for graphical design, are you just going to surfing the web and download stuff, do you want a media center where you can have music and movies?

Also if for some reason you are leaning more towards the PC I still wouldn't suggest a Dell, you are better off buying everything and custom building a system. This may seem like something only a PC technician should do but it is very easy for anyone with little computer knowledge can actually do.

    +1

It's cheaper, faster, more customizable than an Apple.

Now Apple fanboys have nothing to say anymore (except for: you get Mac OS. Well, you haven't used Windows yet)

Last choice should be HP, as everyone I've ever seen/owned break down, slow down, etc in a very short time. By this study, it seems an Asus is the top choice (followed by Toshiba and Sony). Dell wasn't too far behind in the study, but I have to say, for the price of the system you configured- it was a rip-off.

NOTE: This study was for laptops only, but I assume there is a fairly high correlation between all machines made by a company.
Here's a deals website that finds some pretty awesome desktop/laptop deals pretty often: www.slickdeals.net
